Hitting the road again and more craziness at work.

Ohho - so tomorrow I strat back out on teh road, 2 sites in Manchester but then back home tomorrow, then 2 sites in North Yorkshire on wednesday, overnight in East Kilbride, 400 yards from the meeting, then 3 more sites in Scotland and overnight down in Carlisle, again less than half a mile from the meeting, then back home.

I love my job and I love the travelling. I love it that there are meetings in the places I travel to and that I can 'book' the meeting then find the hotel nearby.

But the craziness! My small team, my band of brothers have been 'lifted and shifted' nto another part of the business, our manager has decided to leave the business, we don't know who our next line manager will be, one of our number had been parachuted in to run another team and a second has been para'd in to assist running another. So we're down from 5 to 3 relationship managers. 1 in London, 1 in Birmingham and me in Barnsley. We're trying to provide a national service. I got over half of great britain geographically to cover, it's a big task but 1 I'm looking forward to.

Plus we are likely to merge with another team who do a similar job but on different buildings (they do Radio stations and non operational buildings, we do operational buildings, we have 6000 buildins they have around 1500, but theirs are more complex to manage)

and now we have guys on our team suffering from anxiety, fear, and all possessed of the ability to see into the future - opening gambit to any conversation is'you know what gonna happen next, doncha?'

My response - well no, (thinks - my crystal ball got smashed when  got sober)

trouble is my big white charger is a kicking at the stable door, he thinks it's time I sharpened the sword and shone up the armour ready to ride into battle and save all and sundry. Fire up the ambulance, turn the lights and sounds on, go get rescuing.
It's so tempting to stick my nose into business that has shag all to do with me. Least I can see it coming these days. I remeber what a black belt alanoner told me a couple of years ago - MYOFB - Mind Your Own F*****g Business.

Hey Hey, thanks for listening, I'll be off line for most of the rest of the week.

Hi My friend,

While I was reading, I was humming, "On the Road again, Can't wait to get on the Road again."

so happy for you and you get into  your bucking white Charger and be on the Trails.

Corney I know, but what the heck,

"Happy Trails to you, Until we meet again!"   smile
You sound wonderful and happy and content, Sobriety cannot get sweeter than that.

Love and Hugs on your Journey, my dear friend.
Tonicakes, and hope you will pop in and say hi from some website, if you can find one on that trail.

We will miss you, if we dont hear about you adventure.

Hugs, again Toni

The back and the neck are fine today - several visits to the chiropractor and several visits to the sports masseuse does the trick - but we'll see how it is at the weekend. anyway short day today, just popping over the pennines and back, taking Yorkshire culture to the badlands of Greater Manchester.

what's the difference between a Yorkshire man and a Lancastrian? Well in Yorkshire we just steal the sheep.

and for balance - Tommy goes in the butchers in Rochdale and asks for a whole sheep's carcase, I'll get you one from the back said the butcher. and make sure it's a Yorkshire sheep says Tommy. I'll kick it's brains out first then says the butcher.

I'm back and been on my chinstrap since I got back. 1000 miles in four days! Three back to back 12 hour days.

Anyway - safe and sound and plenty of intuitively knowing how to handle things - like first hotel, got a takeaway in the room and went to a meeting, second hotel got to hotel after 8 p.m. so no meeting, but a good meal. Got home around 7 o'clock friday night. Absolutely couldn't have driven another mile.

Saturday went to a friend's wedding (he's one of us, she isn't) wonderful to see this guy, scrubbed up well, with his family back around him (like many of us he gave his family away) - I took one look at the non acoholic wine and immediately though 'I haven't seen that poured out, so i'll get a fruit juice' all us AA ers did the same. lo and behold the no alcohol wine was 5.5%. Meeting saturday night. Good stuff.

Sunday, lit the coal fire early, put my feet up and did nuthin!
