Strangely Insane ??????

    Howdy,
Hope this note finds you reasonably well. Keyword reasonably.
It still baffels me that when it came to my drinking "reasonably " was no where to be found. As painful as it is " I was strangely Insane ".
Good thing Bill W. explained the "strangeness" in the early chapters of the Blue Book.
Very good thing it was made clear in "The Doctors Opinion" in the same book.
Helped me put some distance from the "weak Moral Fiber" boogy man.
Another boooy man chasing me was the one that kept whispering in my ear " Your No Good".
Good thing we have each other to walk with or be carried through this strangeness.

Some strange comfort in knowing that I will never be cured, and hence, will never not need you and the others in this awesome Program that will indeed keep up reasonable sane, in considering this Disease is ONLY in remission, Vigilence is the key to what I try to focus on.

Hugs, and thanks as always for you wonderful thoughts in the morning.
You always inspire me, with a smile......smile.

Excellent post, Toad.

Insane, yes. Weak moral fiber? I think not.
How would morals enter into a chemical reaction?

Most alcoholics I've met have high moral standards-- sometimes to a fault, as in the "I'm not worth it" scenario.

Another thing-- we are NOT weak-willed. I submit that active alcoholism is hard work.

I challenge any other mortal to clamp shaking fingers around a bottle and force liquor down his raw throat into an upset stomach first thing in the morning, drive while drinking and not spill a drop or get pulled over, stash a bottle at work to suck at every chance without getting caught, maintain the proper attitude around others whether drunk, shaky,  hungover, or all three...etc., ad nauseum, drinking oneself to sleep and awakening daily, sick and terrified, to do it all over again.

AA is the easier, softer way.

Love ya.
Glad yer here.
Keep coming back.

Strangely insane, or insanely strange? I prefer the latter...sounds just a tad more like a "no fault disease", which I believe I have...maybe several.  LOL Yeah---Lee's in a strange mood...just let it go!!!

Interesting topic.

I know I became insane when I drank, then in my insane drunkeness my moral fiber became weak.

"Fundamentally All is well" This phrase is used a few times in the 24 hour book, and I kind of like it.

I am not insane. I only percieve that I am going insane when I do not have any type of alcohol (beverage or non beverage) for at least two nights.

Yep ,
I think Bill W. was reffering to "when It comes to alcohol" regarding a strange insanity.
Some of it carried over into my sober life. Like doing the same thing over expecting a different result.
