Hi, Just suiting up and showing up today. Still figgering out the in's and out's of the site. Pleasantly surprised to find very good sobriety. Humorusly mosty better than my own. That is very good . No A.A. Poster Child here. A Grateful Toad
Hi Toad: Sitting here on halloween night reading the posts on this site. I am sort of hooked (with my addictive personality 'n' all) b/c of the humor and well written posts. I too am a grateful member, this morning in my quiet time, I looked out my living room window and saw the leaves falling from a large tree on my front lawn.. I thought, yes I am grateful for so many things, my coffee, quiet time, autumn, health, etc..... Just can't take anything for granted. Keep reading until you laugh!!! Take care. Carlotta
I knew for certain some very important things about today....It's Halloween and most certainly no kids will come and my spouse will make sure that there are lots of chocolates available for the kid that does come and I'm doing chocolate like it's the last stash on earth and the havenots are sniffing the winds. I don't need ice or a glass or an olive and an onior. I just need to be able to get the little packages open.
Soooo far sooo good. Have a great Halloween...(((((hugs)))))
Who really is the poster child of AA anyhow? I'd like to meet that person. Even Bill W. and Dr. Bob were not perfect. They had problems after sobriety too. We are all human and trying to help each other and that is what makes AA wonderful. Nobody works a "perfect program." After about 6 months in AA I started to see how some people with a lot of sobriety time were far from perfect. It was a disappointment in a way to become disenchanted like that, as I thought anyone with over a year sober was like a God...Now I know that we all struggle, we are all trying to live life on lifes terms and the program helps us get closer to what God wants us to be. Nobody is going to achieve perfection and I respect all who just want to work to stay sober. In How it Works....We seek spiritual growth, not spiritual perfection....we are not saints. Hope everyone had a great halloween.
Mark

Toad, you are in the right place. This is definitely one of the best recovery sites online.
I am a Relapse Poster Child. I've been in & out of this program for over 20 years. My longest period of sobriety was 3.5 years and it was wonderful...until I stopped going to meetings. Everything went downhill from there.
"Remember that we deal with alcohol-- cunning, baffling, powerful! Without help it is too much for us."
I am no expert on staying sober, but I AM an expert on what NOT to do. I've made every mistake one can make, and I was very creative about it. If anybody wants info on how to relapse, feel free to write me personally. I will respond to all questions. If there is any interest, I might even start a thread on this.
Thank you all for being here.
