These past two days have been really tough on me. I am feeling very stressed out. I am worried I am going to relapse. Any kind words and advice would be appreciated.

Are your worries about what your needs are for today? Is there a meeting that you can get to today?

Hi There Kristen,

Hope by now you are feeling a wee bit better, did you get to a meeting to talk about it, and do you have a Sponsor, someone that can help you walk through this FEAR.

Is this fear coming from your relapse of earlier this year??  Just wondering.  I had so many relapsing in my years, prior to the true surrender to this Program, but even though I was not drinking one day at a time, just from my own history, I lived in almost terror that I would not make it, and relapse again.  It never did happen, it was my Fear, but it was truly a very healthy fear indeed.

That was why I asked that question.

Hope you have been able to talk about what it is that is stressing you out so badly to anyone in a Meeting or your Sponsor, if you have one.  Would you care to share that with us here too, if so, please feel free, ok?

Praying that God will hold you firmly in HIS HANDS and soften your fears.  A combination of a lot of stress, with a lot of fear, I just am feeling for you Dear.

A Gigantic warm hug to you,  and if you would like to, if you think it might help, we have our Private Message option, so please also feel free to send me one, if this is a subject you are not comfortable about putting in a Post.

Just one Day at a Time, and sometimes we need to break that down to hours, and sometimes even minutes.  We only have today, and no one here has any more that Just Today.  That little 24 hour Book is so very Awesome, do you have a copy of that little 24 Hour a Day book?

If you look up at the Top, Sobrietyspell, our Danielle, posts the 24 hour a Day, Thought, Meditation and Prayer for just today.

Another Hug, your sister here on MIP.

No matter what you're going through, a drink will only make it worse. First Things First. You are not alone and We of AA love you.

Trust the program and don't drink...the fear will subside.  Of course get to as
many meetings because you want to stay sober.   Meetings, sponsor, literature
Serenity prayer and especially...don't drink and don't think.   Leave the thinking
up to your sponsor.

Kristen, you don't have to relapse though you're feeling stressed right now :) You are coming so far & I love the time & energy you give in coming to MIP & sharing words of comfort & encouragement with us brothers & sisters. Obviously, we can see that you're asking for some loving now & that is a wonderful way of taking care of yourself & having needs met in other ways than taking a drink. You are brave for facing your daily issues away from a drink & this helps us to grow more & more everyday.

If you're feeling particularly vulnerable & I always ask this of anyone who is serious about getting sober I'm interested to know if you're investing in yourself in regards to your program? I know for me it is a life-saver & has helped me to stay sober repeatedly so many days
1Day@aTime. It is painful in the first two years I found as my experience. The steps are a new way of looking at myself, conducting & applying myself to but in time they become habitual & the struggle lessens. Promises begin to come true & we come to have a spiritually strong love of a Higher Power inside us ending up in an uncanny position to help others in turn.

This is the beauty & the importance of having & working the steps. They bring about a spiritual awakening & our sobriety lengthens & deepens. This is giving you a longview & perhaps something more to work towards. I know for now you're simply keen to stay sober though I don't know what lengths you may go to. These are my suggestions but other than that, of course, I hope you will stay sober & continue to enjoy recovery rewards.

Please share how you've been in general with any wonderful meeting experiences if you have some you can describe. I am glad & grateful you are here, gentle soul. You deserve everything the best for yourself. Godbless, Danielle x

Hi Kristen,

Not sure I can add much to all the great things that people have written.

I know that learning to deal with the emotional struggles in soberiety is a big part of our recovery, it will become easier as time goes on.

We are all here is support.

Take Care,

Rob

IN sympathy. Sometimes I take it hour by hour and try to make sure I'm not suffering a HALT symptom I need to address. And use prayer and meditation. Hope this gives back to you what you offered to me in my very first week of sobriety. Hugs, Angela

Hang in there Kristin, whatever you are going through is going to make you stronger if you get through it sober. Life will throw all of us disappointments and changes, but AA and your sobriety can be a constant.

Kristen,
Thinking about you.  Please reply back and let us know where you stand.  Hope your doing o.k.  Keep in mind; when we live in a spiritual solution god will only give us what we can handle at the time we can handle it.  Everything happens for a reason.
