Exhausted and fed-up with my binge drinking
Permalink

Hi all - I am new to this forum, very glad I found it. I am a 39 year old binge drinking alcoholic. The longest I go without a drink is 3 months, (however lately I only seem to last one week)

After each binge I say "never again" and I make promises to myself (and what's worse my family) that I am going to stop!!

I have come to the realization that I can not stop without help. I am attending AA but also would like some online support. Reading your stories on this forum let's me know I am not alone.

I hope to chat with many of you soon... :)

Welcome Laura, help me stay sober by coming back.  I've found Miracles In Progress to be a great fellowship.  Hope to see you around, Angelov8

Hi Laura,

You will find this so useful, any time day or night you can write down your thoughts and I for one find this so helpful,  a place to unload.

Without AA  I would never have dreamt of being sober for the 20 months I have now managed - keep talking to us - welcome

Ali

Laura...even we know that we are powerless over your drinking.  We've learned
how to arrest the compulsion within ourselves and have information and much
experience to share with others that works however that still is in the face of
this cunning powerful and baffling disease which if not arrested offers us three
choices insanity (where you are at, at the moment), death or sobriety.  It takes
a world wide fellowship to keep us sober.  We are not only here to support you
but each other.   Read down the posts a bit to "Life Support" for another
perspective.   Her name isn't Laura but could just as well be I guess.  Her name
is Diane T, also an AA member who practiced the suggestions of the disease.
She is also deeply loved in the fellowship.

I guess a miracle can happen in an email.  Most of them I've encountered in the
rooms of AA.

Welcome to MIP, Laura Dee. Indeed, we are as powerless over your drinking as you are. The best I can offer you for the moment is for you to try your first A.A. meetings & put yourself in a position to be helped by being honest, open-minded & willing. You can be helped if you ask & open your heart. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. With these you are well on your way. Of course, MIP is a great help to me too but I stay sober today by following the suggested steps & staying plugged into support. We help each other ;) Goodluck & Godblessings for your journey 1Day@aTime, Danielle x
