The disease tried her harder than she tried the program. She's been to meetings and had a sponsor and womans' group and a big book, tons of support and a husband in the Family Group of Al-Anon. I will not judge any alcoholics attempt at sobriety. Often times it is told by how we pass and she is passing on life support at the moment. It is maintenance only as I've been told "there is nothing left of her to keep alive". Yes Hope and because of Hope, prayers. If any of the membership has any extra and a open line to your Higher Power, her membership name is Diane T, a lovely child of God and an alcoholic just like me and the others I hang with with exceptions. She had many demons the boss of all being alcohol. That she had any sober periods of time was the miracle and sometimes the miracle is the in-between time and not the end huh? Her spouse and family now are responsible for the next second, hour, day. I've spoken with him and we are powerless. Thanks for letting me share.
A sobering report Jerry. I will add Diane to my prayers. It's important to note that this disease kills people and it's that fact that eludes most us during our attempts to negotiate the 1st step. "It'll never happen to me..." I've thought it many times (still do about non alcoholic issues. God Bless Dianne T, there but for the grace of God goes I.

There is only one drink's worth of difference between Diane T and joelo
Eternal rest, grant it to her, O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon her. May Diane, and the souls of all the faithfully departed, rest in peace.
wow, joelo........ that was a very very eye-opening statement, and so very true, for each one of us!! Thank you so much, that is a keeper, and something I need to put right next to my computer!!
