Being sober certainly does not mean I am free of becoming extremely cranky and aggravated for no apparent reason. Well, I am exhausted lately, and there is a probable culprit, I'm just not agreeing with what my doctor has suggested the past few times I have complained of fatigue.... (he has suggested pretty much nothing).
But my sponsor always has told me to FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS as far as doctors are concerned. Well, whatever. What if there are no instructions? I just want him to listen to me.
Ok........ sober, semi-functional and ok today, just battling a MOOD I guess. I need some reminders of what I can do to help alleviate crankiness and stress right now. Besides getting in bed and pulling the covers up over my head.... Help!

Ok, so far....... put on jammies and and applied wrinkle cream (LOL), cut up a big fat juicey mango and also a nectarine, and filled up my dog's Kong Ball with treats, and watched her roll it around to get the snacks out, while I had my snack.
Sigh........... I think my bp is going down a wee bit....

Glad to hear your feeling a little better joni. When I start feeling that way I try and remind myself to take it easy and give myself a break. My sponsor always tell me to do a grattitude list...something I find hard to do when I'm upset. It always seems to help me a little. Shoot, you should be greatful for the big fat juicey mango you have that I don't (lol). And if my dog (a rat terrier about the size of a large rat) even SAW a kong he would probably fall over from heart failure right there on the spot. Right there are 2 things to be greatful for (the one being you don't own a rat terrier). Try and get a good nights rest, and meet tomorrow with a new positive outlook (like maybe now you know to NEVER own a rat terrier)! Keep us all updated.
Aloha Joni...I hate the negatives...really do and the gratitude list works for me. Almost always the number one spot is held for my sponsors. The one who taught me "If you hate what you're feeling, do the opposite. Then feel the opposite." Bad mood for me? I do something light and airy and humorous. Tired? that's a no brainer, flat on my back with some literature or supportive ((??)) TV fare or a nap...after a mango is just fine for me!! I love them and they are just coming into season here and my neighbor in the back has a tree with about a ton of them on there just drooping for the ground plus I've got 4 in the frige. I'm grateful.
You don't have to feel grumpy...you can feel almost anything you want.
When I get like you mentioned it's because I am feeling a little sorry for myself and think I deserve the right to act like a spoiled brat (dry drunk).
I just stop and give myself 10 minutes or so, doing nothing but taking very deep breaths and meditating (11th step).
Meditation for me is just taking time relaxing, breathing, thinking about a meditation from the 24 hr book and listening to God. Prayer = asking Meditation = listening.
When finished, I usually realize how crazy I was acting and become much calmer and can put things in perspective.
This really works, and was meant to be a big part of the AA program. I hope this can help you or someone.

Thanks all, for the nice replies. I do need a bit more meditation time as part of my daily life. I tend to have the "blonde AA syndrome", where I sit vexed, the AA tools going right over my head at times.
I will add that this morning, I woke up with a sore throat and swollen gland in my throat. Yucky. Husband had a bad sinus infection recently for a couple of weeks. It may now be my turn. :o( I think the severity of my mood last night over pretty much nothing may have foreshadowed me getting sick.
Well today is as good a day now, since here at home for the day now, to be still, nurture myself inside and out, heart soul and body. Thank you all for the love and support any time I have my "moments". And I do have more fruit here to help me feel better. Nectarines, plums, oh yah, cucumbers. Yummy. I got these plums at the fresh market called "Dinosaur Eggs". They are pale with reddish brown speckled all over them. Never seen anything like it, and they do look like dinosaur eggs!! Think I will get out my coloring book now and crayons.... LOL
((((((((hugs)))))))))
