I injured myself at work today.  It's muscle/tendon pull in the back of my leg where they join to my pelvis.  The result is that I can walk, drive, sit in a chair.  It's uncertain
right now how long the healing process will be.  The doctor said will see how much healing happens in the next few days.  I kinda sweating it work wise and with my NC project.  no

OUCH!!!

Sounds painful too, tearing or pulling tendon, takes time.

I hope and Pray it heals very fast, did your Doc give some advice on how to help heal this, like hot compresses, and then cold, or did he just say wait it out.

Have also heard at times, accupuncture can speed up healing???

Hope you get better soon Dean, and no matter what, nothing can stop you from your Saturday night roundup Birthday meeting, right.

Hugs, you have my sympathies.
Toni

OWWWW! Going to use a TENS or something for pain control? My mind went right to OXYs...my bad!! I guess physio would be the right treatment for something like that? And, giving it a chance to heal properly. Get well soon bro!

Deaner!! NOOOOO!!! Did you mean you CAN'T walk, drive, etc...?

That sounds awful and painful. How frustrating. You have my prayers, for sure. And I believe you are going to use any down-time you may have, to chat with God and maybe do some reading or writing. (right?) Try not to fret, the stuff you have planned, work included, will be there waiting for you when you have let yourself REST and REPAIR.

Thoughts, prayers, hopes and love coming your way, Friend.

thanks everyone for the well wishes.  toni I'm doing ice 20 minutes on 90 minutes off right now.  I guess it's debatable when to start the heat.  Plenty of advil and some herbal pain killers called "303's".  I'm really not in too much pain if I don't try and bend my knee or raise my leg.  It takes some doing and a few minutes to get in and out of bed or roll over without agrivating it.  I hoping that I'll be mobile and able to drive by monday, fairly functional in a week or 10 days and completely healed in 30-45.  My shoulder took about 6 months to stop tweeking when I moved it a certain way, hopefully this won't take that long.

I already cancelled the anniversary meeting saturday.  There is still a week left this month to get to another one.  smile

Prayers on the way, could you possibly get to a sauna? a few years ago, I badly injured my ankle and a friend recommended the sauna as a specialist had recommended it to him for a severe neck injury, it was terrific, I went to the sauna for 10 mins, directed a cold shower on injured area to ensure blood went to area then went in for another ten and repeated cold shower, finishing with a warm shower. This really improved my healing process.

Hi Again Dean,

Sounds so much worse that you first described.

(By the way, please just ingore that PM from earlier today, ok, Pretty sure I took something the wrong way)

Just wanted to ask you, if you have never heard of a "Tens" machine, they are these little machines, that send a little nerve impulse/ stimulation to a sore muscle, your own Doctor would know what they are. They cost between $150. to $250, require an Rx. They have usually four little leads that you place on part of the injury, and then fish up the wires to the control, which has several Modulations to choose from, and have a clip to clip onto a belt, or whatever, very small, the size of a small phone, they can be worn when working. the theory behind them is that the stimulation of the nerves promotes healing, by increasing the blood flow to that part of the body that needs to healed.

You might be laughing hard right now, in your field of work, Construction, probably people you know, have known all about these for years. .

About your Birthday celebration, next week will work too, and health comes first always. Just Life doing it's thing..... as we are making our Plans.

Take good care of yourself.

Praying for some fast healing- well fast in God's Time.

Felling a little better today and am figuring out how to move my leg without causing the muscle on the back of my thigh to spasm. I'm going to my anni meeting tonight one way or another, which involved walking up about 20 stairs (gotta take the steps right smile.gif ) as the Blind Pass Cub is above a laundramat. Toni, I had a tenz unit since early sobriety, but I never knew that they had any theraputic value. I always thought that they were only good for pain management by blocking pain signals to the brain. I'll look into it thanks.

Any of you physical therapy types that want to point me in the right direction about exercises or a link, I'd appreciate it. smile.gif

Sorry about your injury.  I found myself "convicted" of being totally disabled (dementia) about a year ago, and I have been through the fires of despair trying to "figure it out."  You are in my thoughts and prayers, and it's all good news for HP!!  Keep coming back!!
