Peer pressure

I used to laugh when I was a teenager and "old people" talked about peer pressure.  I've been at my family's.  At the pool, cooking out...NOT drinking.  I think I'm the only one there sober.  Not that they're pushing drinks to me, it's just everywhere.  They keep going to the shed for another, (don't want to drink in front of the kids...like they don't already know.)  I've been there and done that.

I thought work functions would be hard.  Family is harder.  I keep making excuses to leave, "you're out of ice?  I'll get some"...ect.   The question is, stay at home alone, or put myself in the position to be tempted?  I guess I'm staying at home, atleat until 7, I have a meeting. I have yard work to do anyway.

Hey Mark, we all  have those sort of situations. If you think that temptation is great, then avoid them for while.
If not, set a time limit on the event. Come late, leave early, that's what I do and they will never miss you.
Then get to a meeting.

You're doing well, Mark. You'll be in your Sobriety stride soon. Keep up your meetings & read as much literature as you can. Get to know the A.A. Story from Day1 & you'll identify with recovery more & more. New freedoms are waiting for you just up ahead but Today is the graft to get you there. Keep up your efforts. You're doing Gr8 & I'm proud of you. Keep your faith. I have faith in you too, Danielle x

I hate when people try to pressure me to do things I don't want to do. It only stresses you out. You only have to assert yourself and stick with peer values.
