Ebby Thacher - From AWSI

Tomorrow is the anniversary of the death of Ebby Thacher (March 21, 1966) . . . in doing some research I found this dedication that Bill Wilson wrote in an AA book that he gave to Ebby at the Long Beach International Convention of Alcoholics Anonymous in 1960:

"Dear Ebby,
No day passes that I do not remember that you brought me the message that saved me - and only God knows how many more.
In affection, Bill"

As many of you know, I have the privilege of attending alot of AA conferences. I love the countdowns (and sometimes 'countups') that are often done on Saturday night at a conference . . . I'm not sure what message it carries to the other alcoholics in the room, but it gives always gives me the opportunity to see the people who are walking ahead of me . . . the ones that were here before I got sober, making sure that the message of Alcoholics Anonymous was still available when I walked in the door.

Bill's message to Ebby reminds me of that . . . few of us would be sober (or alive?) if Ebby had not carried the message to Bill Wilson (who carried the message to Bob, who carried the message to Bill D., who carried the message to . . . well, we could increase the list ad infinitum to the people that carried the message to you and I).
