Yes, I've been ask by my Sponsor to look at what I did to cause that really off day that ending with an emotional hangover and to look at what I might have been able to do to, maybe, have prevented it.I've been reading and talking with some other members and I wanted to see if you'd like to share on the subject too.So, have you ever had an "Emotional Hangover"?
"But there is another kind of hangover which we all experience whether drinking or not. That is the emotional hangover, the direct result of yesterday's and sometimes today's excesses of negative emotion-anger, fear, jealousy, and the like. If we would live serenely today and tomorrow, we certainly need to eliminate these hangovers. This doesn't mean we need to wander morbidly around in the past. It requires an admission and correction of errors now..." 12x12 pg 88-89
ive found that the emotion stuff be as addictive as an actual substance....something i have to watch out for....the addiction to emotions....it can be any kind......good or bad.....i seek emotional sobriety as much as i can....at least now i can catch myself when it occurs.....the key for me is the word and application of keeping things "balanced"....down the middle of the road.....staying away from the extremes......my downfall can be...and im well aware of it, is living out there in the future in some dreamland sorta someday where false promises and hopes can lay.....can make me feel good today but not grounded where i need to be....and when the truth comes seeping thru....then comes the downfall......what i learned from the relationship i talked about in my last post.....as someone once said to me...........if i have one foot in the future and the other foot in the past....i pee all over today! hope this helps some

And there's a good reason for that. Strong emotions, good or bad, trigger the brain to release very strong internal drugs (chemicals), addreniline, dopamine, endorphines....(sp) and those are as strong or stronger than any opiates or amphetimines made. So the term "Dry Drunk" is not accurate as we are on drugs when we titilate or upset ourselves to the point of emotional overload. Obsession is key and what to watch for.
