Just wondering if anybody besides me cannot drink coffee because it is a trigger to drink. Coffee is like alcohol to me in that I drink too much of  it until I am all speeded up so bad that it makes me crave booze to bring myself down. I know this sounds weird. I can't even drink decaf because it still triggers me.

Well, I have had to give up drinking too much coffee, for the simple fact that it makes me really hyped up and whacked out and I can't keep focused or be still. That stuff of feeling whack-o crazy and speeded up is not good for my recovery either, as I used to drink alcohol when I felt that like. (Matter of fact, I drank no matter HOW I felt). But I don't LIKE the feeling of being a speed-ball any more. I drink a little decaf in the morning, and that is enough for me. Once in awhile I caffeine-relapse and have a half cup of coffee, and then I remember why I don't like it any more. Decaf has just enough miniscule amount of caffeine to do the trick and not make me suffer.

getlow,

It used to be that way for me too, but probably because I abused stimulants (drugs) along with my drinking so my body associates the two. It means that your system is sensitive and you should listen to your body. It's simple, if caffeine is a problem, then don't drink it. You're better off without it. I've quit it several times and am moving that way again now. Try some ginsing or bee pollen and some good vitamins.

Thanks all. I think I will try vitamins. For now all I am drinking is bottled water.

Coffee not only provides a delightful boost to your day but also boasts organic health benefits of cofffee, such as antioxidants that may contribute to improved cognitive function and a reduced risk of certain diseases.
