As Bill Sees It

The Shared Gift, p. 13

A.A. is more than a set of principles; it is a society of alcoholics in action. We must carry the message, else we ourselves can wither and those who haven't been given the truth may die.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Faith is more than our greatest gift; its sharing with others is our greatest responsibility. May we of A.A. continually seek the wisdom and the willingness by which we may well fulfill that immense trust which the Giver of all perfect gifts has placed in our hands.
Yup, faith without acts is not much.
Acts, with passion is best.
'We alcoholics are undisciplined. So we let God discipline us in the simple way we have just outlined. [Steps 1-11!] But this is not all. There is action and more action. "Faith without works is dead." The next chapter is devoted entirely to Step Twelve.'
Working With Others ~
PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE shows that nothing will so much as insure immunity from drinking as intensive work with other alcoholics. It works when other activities fail. This is our twelth suggestion: Carry this message to other alcoholics! You can help when noone else can. You can secure their confidence when others fail. Remember they are very ill.
Life will take on new meaning. To watch people recover, to see them help others, to watch loneliness vanish, to see fellowship grow up about you, to have a host of friends- this is an experience you must not miss. We know you will not want to miss it. Frequent contact with newcomers and with each other is the bright spot of our lives.
~ Taken from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Thankyou for the 12Steps of AA & all who practice its program for your inspiration & your example to me. I'm greatly encouraged & supported in using these tools to help me deal with living daily, staying sober & away from that first drink 1Day@aTime, Danielle x
