I liked this reading today and wanted to share.  Happy New Day.

From: A New Day-
 December 31

Real generosity toward the future consists in giving all to what is present.
-Albert Camus

It's the last day of the year and the eve of a new one.  For most of us this means it's a time of reflection.  It is shortcomings, but also to acknowledge or assets.

Throughout the holiday season many people overindulge in various ways.  The most commonplace excess and the least recognizable--is overindulgence in the idea that, starting at midnight tonight, everything will change.

We make lists of all the things we're going to do, stop doing, or do differently.  We make fervent resolutions of the ways in which we'll improve ourselves.  We have high hopes for the "new year."

Wanting to change is well and good; as we all know, it is essential if life is to be fully enjoyed.  Whatever we do, though, we shouldn't forget that change is best undertaken one day at a time.  In that spirit, it might be more productive to think tonight about January 1 rather than the entire year ahead.

Perhaps most important, we don't have to wait until the end of a year--or, for that matter, until the end of a day--to become willing to make a new beginning.

Thought For Today: Happy New
Day.

Great post, Jane. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks, too, for the reminder that I can make a new beginning whenever I want/need to. I so often forget that I can start my day all over again.

Take care,

Carol
