Even the newest of newcomers finds undreamed rewards as he tries to help his brother alcoholic, the one who is even blinder than he. This is indeed the kind of giving that actually demands nothing. He does not expect his brother sufferer to pay him, or even to love him.And then he discovers that by the divine paradox of this kind of giving he has found his own reward, whether his brother has yet received anything or not. I went, with my Sponsor, to my first treatment meeting last night. And when I saw the women trying to help each other and I thought of this passage. I don't know if they know what they were doing, but it really inspired me to pratice this a little more.
thanks Jane! I needed to see this today, as I need to be practicing this more, as well. And I know I can't do it if I am not in meetings regularly. Everything I read here lately just reaffirms that I need to have my butt in more meetings. Thanks.
Joni

More meeting, more meetings!!!!! I think now of all the wonderful friends I have met in AA and how by just reaching out to them, I have a shot at long friendships with people who really understand me.....Need to reach out a bit more!! Especially when Im feeling lonely!!!
