Hope all your holidays were terrific. Mine was exhausting, but sober, and I am looking forward to a New Year of positive lessons in recovery.
I pledge to get to more meetings this year. Starting with a 12 & 12 tomorrow night with my sponsor. With God's help, I have overcome a state where I was isolating and afflicted with malaise and lack of motivation for some months. My Higher Power opened my eyes to the fact that I needed help in sobriety, and I am so glad He gave me the strength and the power to seek that help. Not only has it afforded me a renewed spirit and energy, but a recognition of the need to be doing the things I need to do to keep my recovery moving forward. I have been given the Gift of a chance to improve and work harder on myself, and I welcome the opportunity, Big Book in hand.
The holidays can be bittersweet in my house, as my husband's beautiful boys travel back to their home 1,000 miles away. But sober, I am able to comfort him, and give extra hugs, and be supportive instead of being just one more worry on his mind. I find I am able to give so much more in so many ways as a sober woman, not only to my loved ones, but to my friends and employers and patients. Not to mention other alcoholics. So off I go this week to carry the message.
Take care, my friends and neighbors here on MIP, and have a wonderful Higher Power-filled day!!
((((hugs)))) Joni
