Just wanted to take the time to acknowledeg what a difficult time this can be for recovering alcoholics. For those of us up North, it is cold, the days are dark and very short, and it is a real chore to sometimes to muster up the energy to take care of our recovery through a meeting.
In addition, the holidays are coming, and most of us have memories of years gone by, when we were either tanked the whole time, or we were all alone, having driven everyone we loved away through our drinking.
This is a time when we really need to nurture and take the time for our recovery. I say this as a note to SELF: keep working the program and getting out to be with others in recovery. Especially during this season, which tends to be rough on some of us.
I hope we here can all support and love eachother through the coming months.

Thanks for posting this! I am on travel with work and its rainy and cold tonight. Last night a group of us got lost (even w/our GPS because they are changing all the roads!)!! The group went out drinking and bowling tonight. I just was too tired and a little nervous to go. I have a good few 24 hrs behind me, but i am not in the right place of mind tonight. I was going to go to a meeting, but didn't want to get lost...something urged to get on-line. We all know that urging was God! So...here I am and I am glad I did.
My sponsor says...our disease NEVER takes a vacation. And I really enjoy going to meeetings in different towns. It is so cool how a group of people who you have never met are your instant family. They are happy to see you and truly care about you...even if they don't know you. It is pretty awesome.
Going to AA meetings are definetly the best way to stay sober, but thank God we have so many different tools that AA gives us!!
Us northern babes have to come up with a good game plan to get us through this winter!!! Im thinking of taking "lessons" of some sort. Our art museum has some awesome classes I could consider...maybe glass blowing!!!!! lol Yea right, we'll see if that happens!! But its a good thought! May even take piano lessons!!! How fun would that be....My family would love to hear the tinkle of the piano along with my glorious singing voice!!!! hahaha
I guess its good we recognize how we feel today and have the tools to make it through!!!! We just need to use em!!
