Our book is meant to be suggestive only. We realize that we only know a little. God will constantly disclose more to you and to us. Ask Him in your morning mediation what you can do each day for the man who is still sick. The answers will come if your own house is in order. But obviously you cannot transmit something that you haven't got. See to it that your relationship with Him is right, and great events will come to pass for you and countless others. This is the Great Fact for us.

Abandon yourself to God as you understand God. Admit your faults to Him and to your fellows. Clear away the wreckage of your past. Give freely of what you find and join us. We shall be with you in the Fellowship of the Spirit, and you will surely meet some of us as you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny, May God bless you and keep you-----until then.

Man, I love the Big Book. I truly believe this book WAS inspired by a higher power. I want to read it in its' entirety, something I've never done. There is a big book meeting here on Tuesday nights. I've been to the group on sat. but have never attended the Tuesday meeting. I need to make more of a commitment to my recovery. I go to a lot of meetings but have recently moved and I need to find a new sponsor. A scary proposition but as a friend of mine,(who has been bugging the crap out of me,) stated, I really should accept the changes I've gone through, moving and such, and ask My higher power to guide to the right person. It usually works that way.
I want to let you know a little about myself. I originally entered the program in 1983 and remained sober and "dry" for 4 years before picking up a glass of champagne on New Year's Eve and drinking it against my boyfriend.
I remained dry for a period of years before picking up again, starting the cycle of daily using and drinking. In 1994 I made a half attempt, what I thought was a total commitment, to my recovery. I started college and began pulling away from meetings again. Although I graduated, in 1999 I began to pick up again and continued to drink and use until I hit my bottom in 2003. I entered a treatment facility for a 10 day detox. I experienced many miracles there and this has been my journey thus far. I will have 2 years as of April 20, 2003. I came back a whipped puppy and understood, for the first time, the meaning of learning to listen and being willing to go to any length. I have thus far done a 4th and fifth step and continue to see how the steps often work me.
Anyway I look forward to getting to know you all. This is my first time on an AA mesage board.
