"Surgery" today
Permalink

Actually its an outpatient surgical procedure. Going for the pain blocks. Have researched it, talked to others, checked out the doc, prayed a lot. Came to the conclusion I can not continue to live in chronic pain. I can't sleep, I've lost 15lbs and my stress level is through the roof. Soooo, at 12:45 today I'm having injections of steroids in my spine! I'm a bit nervous, mainly b/c of the anestethia. I have been known to have bad reactions, hard waking me up and digestive problems afterwards. But, I feel the risk is worth it.

Please keep my in your prayers and thoughts?

Hugs to all

~
Jen

You are definitely in my prayers tonight. I hope it all goes well and you can have the relief that you need. I know you are strong and will be able to handle whatever comes your way from this, and you will come out of it feeling better for at least having tried something different.

I certainly hope it works, too!!! Praying for you tonight....

Love,
Joni

Thank you all soooooo much.

Other than a sore back from the shots and a catheter being led from lower back to bottom of my skull, I FEEL GREAT! The pain in my left chest wall is almost completey gone. I actually rested last night, first time in over 6 months. Feeling better than I have in a looooong time. Saying a prayer this will last for a while before having to do it again.

Thanks for the prayers, postive thoughts and feedback.

Love you all

(((hugs))

Wow!!!!! Catheter??? Oh my.... you poor dear!! I am soooo glad to hear you are getting good results right now!! What was the procedure called? My dad could sure use some help. He has DDD and has never had surgery. He has refused to have surgery, is more like it. He does fairly well, but several times a year things get really bad. He developed his DDD after working in construction, on a paving crew for many years, shoveling asphault all day long for decades. OUCH!!

I am really really glad to hear you are resting and recuperating well. My thoughts and love are being sent to you right now!! I know that severe back pain can envelope your whole LIFE at times. Hope your relief lasts and that you can be "free" from this.

Joni

It's been referred to as an epidural. But the Pain Mgmt Doc just called it 'steroid injections' ........ It was definately a last result for me. I've been thru the gammit of everything else and am not a surgical candidate at this time but found out (during the procedure) that C8 is 'going bad' so another fusion is in the making!
I'm only  42 yrs old, guys/gals, and a wheelchair is in my not so far off in my future! So, decided to do whatever it takes to enjoy my life at the moment as pain free as possible.

Thanks, Lori

So far, so good. Not completely pain free (of course I wanted a miracle- LOL ) but I've had a good bit of relief, so I'll take it!
