God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.

Work is the scourge of the working man (or woman, as it were.)
I took a job not too long ago as the maintenance manager of a hotel on Oahu. Work is totally frustrating sometimes, and people drive me nuts! There pretty much had been no department when I took over- no operations manual, no files, no records- just a couple guys working aimlessly without any kind of structure. I was hired to create the department after two other guys were hired to work for me, which was kind of odd but I just rolled with it. Then both guys went on vacation back to back in their first month (I didn't know about the first one until the day before he left. The second one I'm in the process of vetoeing.)
On top of that- the departments in the hotel compete with each other (well- the front desk maintains an adversarial relationship with the rest of the hotel's departments. Housekeeping and my department get along famously- and some of the filipina housekeepers feed me !) And on top of that, a couple people (shift managers) at the front desk seem to dislike me a ton, which doesn't really upset me too much but is counterproductive.
On the upside- there are like fifty meetings available in this area, pretty much day or night. Great environment to be a drunk!!
And I'm told tomorrow (Thurs.) is 'Boss's Day'. What will you be doing/giving? LOL Is this like a virus? I was 'grrrrrr'- ing when I clocked out. Started my 45 min trek home and simply thought "Why? Ain't gonna stoop to that level...." And the mood simply passed! Yeah....we've all been there more times than we can remember.... And I keep going back. Whatever is causing the 'grrr's' for you, will say a little pray it too shall pass. Love ya, Wanda

Hey Toby, much respect for what you're doing to be close to your kid.
Oh shoot- I'd do anything to be near him but I realized after I moved that for me it was time for a change of scenery anyhow.
The meetings are fair to pretty alright here. There are some really hardcore meetings down around Chinatown (about eight blocks below my house, actually) that I have started checking out, and I like the change of scenery. It's funny how different meetings are from one part of the city to the next.
Hate those grrrr moments at work! Am usually thankful its 730am and I can leave!!!! They always wonder why Im in such a great mood at the end of the day!!!!
Start my new job the week of the 27th. Praying it was a good move!!!
