Last time working the program it took me 6 months or better to find a home group. I went to a closed meeting and felt very welcome. My Grand-sponsor started the group. I found so many people in that group working the program. Question I read were it takes three days for the alcohol to leave your system, Why do I keep breaking out in real bad sweats ?..PS Had a ruff day at work my machine broke down and took me forever to figure out the problem,,it hit me I wanted a drink bad and said a quick prayer I sad god please don't let me drink today,,,and honest with-in min,,the overwelming feeling left me. When I sliped I was mad at God for making me this way,,and would not pray,,Hey take care you all..Don't want to Ramble,,
Congratulations on picking a group Bucky, sounds like youre doing the right things.Remember the disease centers in our mind, whether it take three days, or longer for any residual alcohol to leave our system.What helped me was to get as active in my group as soon as possible and do exactly what my sponsor told me to.One day at a time, things get better; our promises do come true if you do the work.
Alcohol withdrawal symptoms usually commence between 12 and 24 hours after the last drink, peak in intensity at about 72 hours and mostly resolve by 96 hours after the last drink.
Sorry you had a tough day at work yesterday. But, you didn't drink and that is great news. Just keep working the program and going to as many meeting as you can and it will get better for you.

hello bucky. the home group for me was a comfort as i was very lonely when i started the AA meetings, and even though i went to other venues i knew the people better in the home group as we would go to a coffee house after the meetings and get to know each other. after a few years i got to know many people, i worked in the central service office ofAA here in south australia, and once a month or every two months the office phone was switched over to my place for the weekend which i manned until monday mornings, i went to many conferences, and recreational AA camps, but despite all that, the home group stood out as the key to my needs every time, my sponsor was there too. cheers peter.
