After 8 and a quarter years sobriety in AA, I picked up a drink in Feb of last year. Talk about the YETS.
It's taken me this long to get up a little bit of time after many attemts back in the fellowship.
But with the help of a great doctor, a great new fellow in my life and of COURSE the AA fellowship (not to mention my HP as number 1), I now have 30 days up today.
I'm glad I got a reminder online to come visit this Board again.
Best wishes to you all.
Jenni

Hi Jenni Good for you Jenni. I have 3 days so far and I look forward to 30 days. That is exciting!!
I was thinking how the days of drinking can add up quickly and those days are sad to say the least. But the sober days can add up just as quickly and those are joyous.
Welcome back to MIP, Jenni. Congratulations on your 30days 1Day@aTime. Well Done in your earlier 8yrs too. Not wasted by any means, I'm sure. I hope you haven't lost too much in your relapse, dear lady. Saddle up & away again. I'm glad you're back & hopefully somewhat renewed. There's so much more this program can & will give you once you're working in enthusiasm with the fervour as do the drowning seize life ;) I'm sure you'll find your beginning posts a great insight into what led to that first drink once more.. A clue to help us all stay sober another day. Thanks for coming back & sharing your experience, strength & hope with us. There is no day more important than today. Goodluck reaching 60. I've the best faith in you :) Daniella x

gday from adelaide, yes i remember my first month sober i was in a rehab at kuitpo in the adelaide hills and it was summer and i was coming alive like i never had before, ive been an outdoors person all my life and so i renovated the rehabs vegie garden, and in 3 months time it was feeding 60 people, but yes i remember, cheers peter.
Hi Hillsalive, Wow! That just gives me even more hope and rememberance of how much I can accomplish in sobriety. I am very proud of you to have done the garden. A very lovely story. Thank you for sharing that.
I hope you are doing well Jen. I am looking forward to 30 days. Right now I am enjoying adding them up and taking each day to be grateful and get well on day 6.
thanks for the compliment rosie, yes there is always a jump in the spirit when you read of the encouraging posts on an AA site, i still read them even if i dont reply to all of them as i can hear myself in others, and also read bits of my own life in others write ups. most alkies even if they drank in a social envirement until they stopped are actually loners and so AAgroup meetings and set ups like this site regardless of which continent are great places to unite and break the old habits in all areas of suffering, and you know your on a site fall of real people as non alkies and people who still drink and havent come to AAever at all, havent the AA language so to speak .
the early days of sobriety and i can remember it like yesterday are full of exciting new experiences that i once thought were boring without a drink in me. after 20 years of it it is very easy and enjoyable to be straight however keep in mind you dont have to wait 20 years to get it, life changes dramatically while the stepwork is being done from 1-12, cheers peter.
