"The idea that somehow, some day, he will control and enjoy his drinking is the great obsession of every abnormal drinker. The persistence of this illusion is astonishing. Many pursue it into the gates of insanity or death." AA BB pg. 30
How blessed I am today the obsession has been removed. I never in my wildest dreams thought it would happen to me. I've heard countless others in meetings share it had been lifted from them. I often found myself wondering if they were telling the truth! After all I've been in AA for 3 years and nada! I realized a few days ago it has happened to me. And it is awesome beyond belief!
Still pretty screwed up with the whole life on life's terms (see signature at the bottom!), but how amazing that in sobriety I can weigh my motives, pray about it, listen and wait for the answer and then know without a doubt what the next right thing is.
I still have much work to do & continue to do for the rest of my life and find myself thinking how great that work is going to be. What a blessing that is! No longer feeling the 'dread' of the work ahead, atleast for today.
I'm so thankful I didn't give up before the miracle happened......I find that today I really am trudging the road of happy destiny.
