Now I realize that AA meetings can't afford espresso machines and fresh ground beans and this topic is meant as a light hearted rant.
But the coffee at the umbrella group that I attend is vile stuff, brown water made from stale coffee and generic creamer.
I've done several stints as coffee maker over the years and when I did the group knew they were getting a decently made cup of joe.
Most of the time if I feel like coffee I'll make my own and bring it in a travel cup. Sometime I feel that AA must have workshops on how to ruin a pot of coffee.wink

I just figured that stuff was to wake the dead or a...newcomers :P. Our AA club "The Blind Pass Group" St. Pete Beach, FL <-------shameless plug  has pretty good coffee and a juice bar with sodas etc...  Most of the evening meetings, people bring baked goods and other goodies.  That's why people need to make it to a lot of different meetings because they are not all created equal smile

I only drink decaf these days, since getting sober caffeine causes a bad case of the jitters (??). In my HG, regular is always Maxwell House or Folgers, but the decaf is ALWAYS the store brand, yuck! Soooo I usually just skip the coffee all together coffeecup.gif

I do and it doesn't make any difference, the coffee filters are predosed and the machine is plumbed. There are several warming pads so when a pot is empty the next person to get coffee dumps the basket inserts a new pre dosed filter and pushes the brew button.

This group rents a space in a strip mall, has apx 6 meeting a day 7 days a week and buys supplies in bulk.

Now I did a stint as secretary & coffee maker at a small meeting that would go through maybe 2 pots at a meeting and member would bring in goodies and fresh ground beans.

Cooncat, Let me know if you want me to ship you out a decent large urn. I think it is about a 30-cup urn, that plugs in. It is in my basement. Works fine, got it at a flea market, made coffee in it twice. Very clean. PM me if you want. Would love to contribute to your coffee being better at the meetings!!

Thanks but we have a resturant quality (used) drip system.
It's hot and there's plenty of creamer and sugar.
That's all 99% of AAs care about anyway.
As a "coffee geek" I was just voicing my disgust, I don't believe we need AA Baristas. I can afford to bring my own cup of coffee if I desire it, I usually don't drink coffee in the evening anyway (keeps me awake)  and I consider decaf like nearbeer "what's the point".

Cooncatbob, you sound like you're in dire need of a decent cup of Kona Coffee.

I drink herbal tea at the evening meetings. If I drink coffee after 3:00 in the afternoon I'll be up til 2 a.m.
