I'm really sorry-  I expected to click on chat room and just be there;  I got so's I could see what Dean and Lani were writing, but nothing I did could get me into the chat room.  So I thought may be I needed to download that MERC thingy, which only got me frozen, and when I cancelled it and went back to the chatroom to at least listen, and there was only word salad. Whew.   I'm sure that having a ten year old laptop doesn't help....again, really sorry.   I don't make committments I cant keep.   smile.gif      BG

Hi BG,

Sorry you couldn't make it into the chatroom properly. I've just gone back and taken a look regarding mIRC. The chatroom says 'Please don't forget that our text chatroom is on IRC, accessible using this site ...' and I don't have any IRC software on my computer, but I got into chat fine. So, I doubt that it is that.

It could be that your version of Java (the chatroom is Java based) is out of date or that you don't have it installed on your laptop. You can get it at

http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp .

The page also explains all about Java. I use it on my computer and I don't have any problems. It could well be that your old laptop hasn't got Java. It could be worth taking a look.

I hope that that helps.

Take care,

Carol
