Make yourself feel good.

It's our job to first make ourselves feel better and then make ourselves feel good. Recovery is not only about stopping painful feelings; it is about creating a good life for ourselves.

We don't have to deny ourselves activities that help us feel good. Going to meetings, basking in the sun, exercising, taking a walk, or spending time with a friend are activities that may help us feel good. We each have our list. If we don't, we're now free to explore, experiment, and develop that list.

When we find a behavior or activity that produces a good feeling, put it on the list. Then, do it frequently.

Let's stop denying ourselves good feelings and start doing things that make us feel good.

Today, I will do one activity or behavior that I know will create a good feeling for me. If I'm uncertain about what I like, I will experiment with one behavior today.

From The Language of Letting Go

I am going to spend time with 2 friends in the evening. They are actually ex-colleagues whom I haven't met in ages.

I am going to make it a point to do atleast one thing in a day which will make ME happy..

Thanks..I needed this today

Fantastic, Nisha x I'm glad you're looking after yourself. Checking in, catching up with MIP & getting a few replies up helps me to feel good. I love being a part of life online here & I carry everything it gives me into my daily living. I also take everything I learn out there & in meetings & bring it back here. The joys of recovery :) I finished my first round of Steps 4&5 a week ago & that helped me to feel good too. I'm getting quite hopeful at the possibilities of moving on in my sobriety now & gaining the confidence slowly like I've always wanted & looked to alcohol for. It's taken a long time but it's coming. And, Carol.. Posts like this mean more & more to me the more days Ihave. Thanks for reinforcing my conviction in my recovery too. I'll keep looking after me & giving it back. Loads of love & light to you all here. Take care good good care of yourselves, Danielle x
