Christmas Day!

Good morning all. Hope you have a great day today.

I've just crawled out of bed after a hectic night with my womans entire family at the house (all 30 of them, the house just isn't big enough).

It's 10:44 AM and I need a drink, a large strong one, probably about a pint, just to start the day. Obviously I'm talking about coffee! Who ever invented the stuff needs to be given a medal.

The snow hasn't arrived here yet, but if I look out of my window I can see it on the hills in the distance. Not a good time of year for the sheep farmers.

So plan for the day is to go and eat turkey, open presents, see friends and stay sober, most importantly be thankfull that I can be sober.

Have a good one all.

Best wishes,

Chris

Keep up the good work, Chris.  You have a loud cheering section here in California... me, myself and I.

I remember spending 7 years of Thanksgiving day and Christmas day by myself, because I let my children spend these special days with their dad.  I always managed to find some little inexpensive restaurant open to have dinner by myself.  I kept my loneliness to myself for a couple of years after my divorce from an alcoholic, even though I was going for the past 3 years to lots and lots of AA meetings.   I learned during this time that Christmas wasn't about me and this took away my poor-me syndrome!

I was one of the fortunate ones to have the desire for alcohol completely lifted, from my first meeting on.   After a few years-- when I saw someone in a restaurant sipping an alcoholic beverage-- I'd say  to an AA friend, "Boy, wouldn't 10 or 15 of those taste good!!!"

I wish you quality sobriety, Chris, and may the day come soon when you will no longer have the desire for an alcoholic drink.

May you have a blessed and happy New Year.  I'm so glad you're here with us.

Love & hugs & prayers,

Alice
