In A.A. alcoholics find a way to solve their personality problems. They do this by recovering three things. First, they recover their personal integrity. They pull themselves together. They get honest with themselves and with other people. They face themselves and their problems honestly, instead of running away. They take a personal inventory of themselves to see where they really stand. Then they face the facts instead of making excuses for themselves. Have I recovered my integrity?
Meditation for the Day ~
When trouble comes, do not say "Why should this happen to me?" Leave yourself out of the picture. Think of other people and their troubles and you will forget about your own. Gradually get away from yourself and you will know the consolation of unselfish service to others. After a while, it will not matter so much what happens to you. It is not so important any more, except as your experience can be used to help others who are in the same kind of trouble.
Prayer for the Day ~
I pray that I may become more unselfish. I pray that I may not be thrown off the track by letting the old selfishness creep back into my life.

Great post! Working on step four , still!!!!, and can see how facing our fears and not running from them is helpful! I was the queen of not facing things! It is getting easier!
Its funny as I was posting I can feel a differece in myself and my responses to others. I remember not ever knowing what to say in response to people on here and really not understanding, really understanding, what others were saying.
I felt that people were talking so eloquently and where the heck did they learn to speak like that!!!! By working the program, trusting my HP and learning from others in AA, I found now I understand things a bit better! May not also say the right things but I am at least no longer afraid to share my own E,S and H!!
good day!!!!

Lani, you're a great example of a work in progress program. I've been impressed & inspired with your sharing since you first joined us at MIP. Your honesty, openmindedness & willingness shone out from the start & your wisdom following. It was beautiful to see your gentle face that so reflected the impression I already had of your heart. Thanks for being here & helping me to stay sober for today. Thanks & fellowship, Danielle x
