Every spring, I do a major "Pitching Out Session" that lasts for a few weekends. Room by room, basement included, "if it is no longer useful to me, everything MUST GO". (Sounds like AA)
I have been wandering the house deciding what can stay, what can go to Goodwill, and what can go on to the Greener Pastures at the local dump. And with each room cleared out and reorganized, I can SEE all the lovely things about my home that I am supposed to see, but usually can't, due to the clutter. There is stuff I have held on to in the basement for years and years. But it never leaves the basement. This year, it is time to GET RID of the CLUTTER.
A lot like my growth in AA. My character defects, my long-term worries, my negative self-criticisms. These defects come off in layers. Through the years, I have gotten rid of some of the most troublesome stuff in my life. But some big useless stuff still remains, yet I hang on to it, in case I am in a pinch. (Dishonesty, Self-Righteousness/ old chairs, broken appliances.) Eventually though, I can see that these things do nothing for me but hamper my life, and my personal "space" (whether in my head or in the basement).
So I embark on this spring clean-up, and I keep in mind that I will always have to do this. It is part of who I am. Holding onto, and then letting go.

The part I hate about getting rid of things is they always come back in style a few years later and then Im mad I got rid of them!!

You all are AWESOME!!! I'm doing some spring cleaning this weekend too. It really does help to get some perspective to remove the clutter. So grateful to be sober; waking up instead of "coming to", knowing what I did yesterday, what I said, etc. It keeps getting better and better. Have a blessed day, everyone!!!
Well guys.... Ive shared before how Ive had my share of "drunken" projects around the house! Today, I got to clean up one such mess!
Actually, my neighbor and I thought they looked great! I bought a ton of stones and put them in my flower bed in front of my house last year. I really did think they looked great! Well today, I got to remove every last one of them and wheel barrow them to the border around our pool! Took me two hours! Now it looks like crap!!! My husband hated them and were getting lime stone and mulch.......... whatever!!!!!
Have to say it felt good being out in the yard! Im ready for spring weather!!! My legs ache from squating but just proves to me I need to start exersing!!!!
happy spring cleaning and remeber to get a second opinion before starting a project!! haha Lani
