Meditation & Relaxation

Hi all. Had a great day today. Took a train to Kilkenny city for a meeting, about half an hour away. Good lunchtime meeting, lot of good people there. Brought them a copy of "My name is Bill W." on DVD, which I downloaded the other day.
Anyway, my Addiction Councillor has asked me to do Meditation or Relaxation exercises every day. Does anyone here have experience in that field? Any good CDs or DVDs worth checking out? All tips welcomed.
Malcolm

I couldn't do CD's/DVD's myself.....I find Yoga not only good for the mind, but good for the body too. 2 birds with 1 stone!

I cry everytime I watch "My name is Bill W." especially the part where his wife asks him if it's her and he goes on to tell how how he never felt like everyone else and always wanted 'double' everything........I could tear up now thinking about it.

I can see none of us have quite "mastered" this..... LOL Does not surprise me. I cannot get past the "pass out" part, when I try to meditate.

:o)

hey Malcom,

good meditation should begin with a few minutes of deep breathing exercises. trying to completly blank out your mind in a quiet room is hard for me to do for more than a minute or two so I listen to some really soft music (jazz) close my eyes and think about a serene place like the moutian forrest or a secluded beach (happy place) and imagine the sounds I would here in those places. It you can do it first thing in the morning for 5 minutes, before all the voices in your head start up with the do's and worrys, it'll change your whole day.
