Umbrella Group or stand alone meeting?

What kind of meeting do members here go to, Umbrella Groups or stand alone meetings?
For those that are unfamiliar a Umbrella Groups a meeting where a facility is rented and multiple meetings are held there. Sometimes it'll be a room rented at a church where they'll have a meeting every night or more common where I live in California a small vacant store in a strip mall will hold 4 or more meetings a day 7 days a week. Some places have 6:30 AM commuters special meeting week day mourning and noon, 6pm, 8pm and late meeting are also common.
What I like about umbrella groups is that if you miss your regular meeting you can still go to a familiar place and see some familiar faces.
How's the AA where you live?

Small rural area, not a lot of folks in AA, (not enough to support owning<or even renting> a building). 

Space is provided by a local church, one night a week.

Attendance ranges from 2 or 3, all the way up to a huge turnout crowd of 8 to 10.

    That can be tough, not having enough meetings. I need to count my blessings that where I live we have lots of meetings.
I got sober in Concord, CA. Less then a mile from my house was the Concord Fellowship room, they had at least 4 meetings a day 7 days a week. They were on the front lines of recovery and a lot of homeless folks and mentally ill hung out there. The other place I frequented was the Concord Originials, oldest AA group in Contra Costa County. They had a meeting everyday except Sunday, they were at a church.
I know live near Sacramento, CA. They're 3 umbrella groups near me. The Traditionial Group, old group that rents a store and has meetings 7 days a week. A No Al club simalar to an Alano Club, they have a converted house right off the bussiness district. They have AA and Alanon meeting. Then there's my home group the Sharing & Caring Fellowship, they've moved around a bit but are now at the far end of a small strip mall. They have at least 4 meetings a day 7 days a week. Best of all they're less then a mile from my home so ne excuses.
We're blesses now to have the internet so even if we can't get to a Face to Face meeting we can come here.

I go to an umbrella group the local "camel club" there area few other meetings in town but most of them are at the club.The good and bad of it bad; too many of the old timers are consumed in running the club instead of helping us nerw folks get sober. they don't give chips or meddalions on sobriety birthdays ( i have found another group in town that does ) they barely keep the lights on so money for those. Now the good; is easy to feel at home there since there are mutiple meeting there every day, for an 8 oclock meeting people get there at 6:30 or 7 to talk play cards ect. once a month there is a speaker meeting with a potluck supper before hand also once a month there is bingo its not perfect but its what we have

We have a bunch of meetings held at churches- some in a pavillion, some on the lawn- and a bunch of meetings held in pavillions down at various beaches around the area. We also have some meetings held in a storefront that is leased to be used as a community center and one group meets at the fishing club up at the harbor.

Gotta say that while I mostly go to evening meetings because of time constraints my favorite meetings are 7 a.m. on the beach. Great way to start the day.

On the beach, how neat that sounds. Wandajf and I are AA here for the most part.(all 1200 people---happy hour at the bar is totally packed)  It says where two or more meet....but we're good, we dont count shopping as a meeting. But we do live on the beach, so maybe we could try that while the weather is good. Usually it's us getting together in my home or hers. Well, now a neighbor's, since she's lost her home. Thanks for the idea, Toby.

You mentioned Requiem for a Dream in a post a few back. I wanted to show that movie at the rehab, I felt the impact would be good for the residents? The head said it was too graphic. Like, addiction is soft? That movie made me nightmare for quite awhile after seeing it. I"d been clean about twenty years when my youngest, who had no "real" idea what my life had been like before sobriety, brought it home for me to see. I was barely able to sit thru it. I think everyone in recovery should see it.  Chris

Best wishes for this post, I have come up with this suggestion for you today. That's when we go to get some new stuff. So we know about him from someone. What is quality but now you don't need it.
