Thank God I am sober

Hi everyone,

My son had a bad biking accident on the weekend.  We just took his training wheels off and he was riding on his own.  He was going too fast and I was yelling for him to slow down when he hit a rock and went over his handlbars.  It was a mess.  He lost his front teeth and had to get stitches in his chin.  He has cuts and bruises all over his body.  It was awful.  Luckily, he was wearing a helmut.

When I was in the Emergency room with him I thought about how it would have been if I was drinking.  The accident very likely would have happened the same way, but I can imagine myself drunk and smelling of booze while I explained everything to the nurses and doctors.  I know I am a good Mom and I am a good person and I would have felt like a total loser who could not take care of my son.  I am sure they would have been skeptical about the fall too.  Saturday afternoon a few years ago I could easily have had a few drinks in me.  I am so glad I am sober.

My son is doing fine and enjoying the unlimited time on his PS2.
