Learned my lesson after a bad garage experience, how to vet them better?

I recently had a really poor experience at a garage where they recommended a bunch of unnecessary work and I ended up paying for services I didn't need. It's made me realize I need to be much more careful about choosing where to take my car. I want to find a place that is genuinely trustworthy and focuses on what actually needs to be done. I've been doing some research online and found some really reliable automotive servicing insights about what separates good workshops from bad ones, especially in a big hub like Al Quoz. Things like checking for clear pricing, proper diagnostic tools, and experienced technicians who communicate well. Before I commit to a new garage, I'd love to hear from others here. How do you do your homework on a workshop? Are there specific garages in Al Quoz you've found to be consistently honest and transparent?
