I have a friend Bill working on Step 9 who has a big problem.  He owes somebody an amends big time.  He thinks he got a married woman pregnant, and she had the child.  Bill was trying to get her to leave her husband and she adamantly said no!  Tragically, she recently was killed in a car accident.  The husband and her family are grieving horribly, yet, as far as Bill knows, they dont know about the affair at all.  Heres the rub: a genetic disease runs in Bills family that causes something called Marfan Syndrome.  Bill doesnt have it, but his father died from it.  If the baby is Bills, its possible but in no way certain that the baby is affected.  Fortunately, the outcome for Marfan is usually good if caught in childhood.  

Bill wants to be in the childs life if he is the father, too.  But he knows that revealing his infidelity and affair to the husband might destroy a grieving man and potentially take away from him his only remaining ties to the woman he clearly loved very much.  Bill does not know what to do, and is looking for practical advice.  Thank you.
