Obsessive Thinking

Thank God for AA.  My last drink was nearly 9 months ago and it has been a rollercoaster for sure! I know I've done the right thing and things are changing for the better slowly, but I suffer with obsessive over thinking about problems - which magnify them in my mind to huge proportions and cause me great distress.  I pray and try so hard to hand my problems over to Gods will, but sometimes it can seem so hard.  Any hints would be appreciated.

The only advice I can give is when the obsessive thought sneaks up on you, give it to your Higher Power right then and there. Remember that our disorder shares the characteristics of alcohol in that it's cunning, BAFFLING, and powerful, and many of us retain the instinctive propensity to dwell on past wrongs. I hope this helps.

It's amazing how many of us cannot sit in slience without going bonkers in the head. As a whole, we are overdosed on media. Try sitting in complete silence for 2 minutes. The next night, try for 5 minutes. Work your way up until you say "know what? Screw it. It is what it is".

I personally have a combination squirrel, hamster and monkey brain. Without AA and the ability to quiet these thoughts, I'd be more bonkers than I already am.
Do some meditating, deep breathing, praying, chanting, whatever works for you........
Call someone in the fellowship----we can usually identify the obsessive mind for what it is......us, taking charge of everything, because we have done such a great job
of everything!!
Give it to your Higher Power.....whatever that may be....
The voices will get quieter----most likely won't ever disappear, but it's a good start to emotional sobriety.
