Coming up on 45 years...Excited this year. HAPPY NEW YEAR

I guess every 5 years is signified as a jubilee year...this year will mark my 45th Anniversary.. My last drink Jan 12th 1974.. from my first meeting...No cake, no chip, no addaboys (LOL) no bells and whistles ONLY the realization that if I didn't get sober or remain as such there would not be 45 years of sober life... I would have been dead long ago. This has been a good year.

I did manage to get to 2 meetings last January in Bangkok.. I left the city a few days before anniversary so it doesn't mean much. Meetings have been few and far between the past ten years mostly due to in-accessibility but that's fine .There's some great stuff on U-tube..Particularly Father Joseph Martin... I still have my original 24 hr book 45 years old...use it every day...Having the big book and 12 and 12 on Kindle has been awesome.. Things change so you adjust

I don't remember over the past 45 years going one day without thinking of AA front and center. AA the 12 steps and the fellowship in my early AA life has given me extraordinary spiritual gifts..and for this extremely grateful

I wish I could list them for you but I do feel it to be in-appropriate...

What I found most significant reading the Big Book on my Kindle is I believe Dr. Silkworth..AA works because it is a spiritual program...and that's the only thing that works...and I agree 100%...no if's ands or buts...

Yesterday in Thailand, Today in Malaysia flying to Indonesia in two days...The program works if you work it...unfortunately the program is too simple for today's ever evolving complicated  human personality...immersed in the narcissism of such vehicles of Facebook, Twitter Instagram and the like. .which corrodes discipline. . "There is no easier softer way...GOOD LUCK

Happy New Year! Another year, another 365 disappointments. One of the good things this program has taught me is to always expect disappointing results. That way, you'll never be disappointed. Stay safe and sober, and congratulations.

My last post on this thread is the rant of a dry drunk jackass for which I offer my profound apologies. It took a relapse and a new attitude to open my eyes. And 45 years without touching the bad stuff is the epitome of the word 'miracle'.

Beautiful words and sentiments Percival!!
We all keep all of us going!!
Went to a great meeting, where the leader was able to exhibit dignity and grace even though being in the middle of an emotional hurricane.
The number of people he helped that night has been multiplied by AA.
His experience, strength and hope----added to us Miracles in Progress!!

Congratulations to you Percival on 45 years of sobriety. That is a milestone very few obtain. You have been blessed my AA friend. All of our sobriety is nothing more than a True Miracle and Blessing from God himself. We are the chosen ones.
