I've been out of the State's 14 years but I do keep up with the News. Several months ago there was an article that Ms. Lovato sober 6 years picked up...For other recovering alcoholics hearing someone picked up is sad...we generally say a prayer for them for the grace to come back....I think I read at the time she wrote a song about losing her sobriety...even sadder

The latest article ..trying to commit suicide. : This is what happens to alcoholics when they go back out...probably hundreds each week.... but we don't read about them...

The one thing Ms. Lovato points out at least to me....Having an extraordinary amount of talent since childhood...means NOTHING in staying sober

Having a lot of MATERIAL THINGS means nothing in staying sober "I saw a picture of her beautiful home in Hollywood Hills where she was found"

NONE OF THIS means ANYTHING to a suffering alcoholic...in the throes of a Physical, Mental and Spiritual Disease...

There is a way out AA... I can feel sad , for Ms. Lovato (And all the others who didn't make the headlines) give my prayers to everyone who have fallen by the wayside...and be grateful it ain't me... My gratitude for my 44 years of sobriety.. Peace of Mind... a purposeful and meaningful life.. Everyday I say "What step are you working on? AA works if you work it...If you fall...pick yourself back up... learn from your mistakes...and use your experience to help others...Good luck and God Bless all those who have had a slip.

Aloha Percival and thanks for the thoughtful share.  We have similar mental awareness on the subject of the disease and recovery from it while recognizing that there are others who are still reaching out one way or the others, on purpose or not.  I know very little about the young lady Lovato except that successfully reaching out to others in recovery and a sponsor might have made her situation different.  She wrote a song of regret which I hope for her has other parts coming...last I heard she is still alive.  HP can use her further to aid others...maybe even in my family.   Thanks again.  confuse
