I wanted to talk about my dad's battle with alcohol and tobacco and how he emerged as a winner. He had to stop drinking and smoking because he had developed a cataract in his eyes. He was addicted to alcohol and tobacco big time and the first thing he did when he woke up was to mix up his favorite drink and start his day. He doesn't have a bad case of the liver but his vision definitely got impaired. He couldn't drive properly, couldn't read his journals et cetera. He started getting a foggy vision and when we consulted an ophthalmologist in San Antonio, he referred us to an expert in cataract surgery. He confirmed that dad has a cataract in his eyes and needs to undergo a surgery. When he asked us about his drinking habits, we confirmed that dad is an alcoholic and a smoker. Then the doctor told us that for some people, the massive usage of alcohol and tobacco will result in eye diseases. So basically, the cataract was because of his drinking and smoking habits. Well, now dad has changed his lifestyle completely. He had to undergo surgery in both his eyes. He drinks occasionally and also quit smoking. I just wanted to share this so that it could be helpful and educational to people and so that they would quit alcohol and be disease free.
Alcohol and tobacco use opens the door to so many potential health issues that it's impossible to list them all ... the longer we use them, the more severe these problems become ... I could not only 'drink' occasionally as you said your father does ... (I did quit smoking though) ...looking forward to hearing how your father is doing as he recovers from the surgery s ...
Keep in touch ...
God Bless, Pappy
