My partner is in bed at the mo after having a anxiety attack.

since coming to aa I have chilled out alot, but she is like chicken licken, if things dont get done NOW were all going to die!!

I have tried to help her, and when I pointed out this was her objectives to live in a perfect house, for things to get done the instant she wants them done and for everything to always be tidy she flipped!.

I used to make a joke about it, but it now upsets me, I do something say my steps and leave a paper or book on the coffee table, I go to get a glass of milk and it has been moved in that time, tidied away, i feel i have no part in this house!

Well. Im certainly not one to give any opinions on this one bud..Ive screwed up more relationships..than I can count...

Always had a big problem comunicating..the right way..and listening instead of shutting mouth...

But I have learned today..that comunication..is number one...

Acceptance is another...

Understanding is another...

If one partner doesnt think that they have a problem..and they do...

.noones..going to change it..except them...

Took me a long time to figure out what loving and detatching was also...and Live and Let Live...

Took even..a longer time..to figure out what unconditional love was...

Hope it all works out for you both...Have a good One..

Hi Robert,

Well my sister was just like that, she raised two children, and her house was never, ever out of order,  never any dishes in the sink, no dust anywhere,   I raised two children too, and was constantly trying to stay on top of the messiness of life, and did not alway succeed.

When I would visit my sister, and i did so very very ofter,  If I ever sat down, to drink a cup of coffee, and I did hundreds of times, when I was finished with my coffee, and my cigarette, and if I got up from the chair, or just was not paying attention to something,  the coffee cup was washed and in the cupboard, and the ashtray was washed and put away.      Never understood it,  But on the plus side, I envied it, because there was a great feeling of order to it too.  Pluses and minuses of life. Felix and Oscar stuff. It does have some humor to it.  You could maybe get some copies of those old flicks about Felix and Oscar, The Odd Couple, and just have some laughs.

I still have to work at having an orderly feeling in my house, I make messes and really dont want to deal with them immidently,

Once when I was joking with a Therapist, about Hating Housework, she looked at me very seriously and said,  When you take good care of your surroundings, making your bed, fluffing a pillow,  that is the most NURTURING thing that you can do for yourself.   So it did change my prospective somewhat.

Sometimes when I force myself to look at work, I do not WANT to do,  I say to myself, Change you mind about how you feel about this.  Try looking at it as SOMETHING you Do WANT to do.

And it changes my presceptive just enough to get it done without the UGH to it.  It works for me.  I get to that balance place.

Have a good day,

And something I learned a long time ago, when I was stuggling with something (anything really) I was asked to try and look at it from the prescective of, "if I did not drink today, then Today was really Perfect.   Without any problems,  I practiced that a lot, and did succeed is shutting up the Committee in my head, so many times.

Bye now, Toni

okay..  I guess I'm supposed to see this this morning.  After finishing the bedroom as far as painting and the floor, I bought some furniture, gave away some furniture, moved some furniture,,, and had to empty the stuff all out.  Now I have to sort it all out and find orderly places for it all in the new drawers and shelves. Meanwhile,,,  there are piles of stuff everywhere and I can't find anything! One pair of scissors is somewhere. I don't know what is in that pile over there. I guess I have to sort through my old lp's and 45's. A friend of mine came in and saw the bar of soap that I have on this table. I wonder if she wonders what it is doing here? I actually do have an answer for that.

Amanda,

Bar of soap on the table, Made me laugh out loud.  i had this piece of tile that broke off in a bathroom and rather than get some glue and repair it, Someone asked me once, why was it just laying on the floor,  i told them it was a "Still life"    HaHa.

Maybe your soap could me a "still life"   Face it, they are unique.

Good Laugh,  I moved into my house 8 months ago, and when I bought some furniture, for my dining room, a cabinet, for misc. stuff, the boxes are still sitting there, not unpacked, and they are in a corner so most people dont see them, and I look at them, and just let the box ask the question,  where are you????

Progress, not perfection.

I am almost tempted to put a bar of soap on my dining room table.  One thing I came up with the other day, when I was feel real "uptight" inside about getting things done, I said to myself, why not try to let life just flow, easy, just flowing,  not requirements, easy does it to all the stress i can get into,  and my question for the day, is Ritorical, why should the soap be someone else???      Some of us are still sicker than others,  and Yes I guess I am raising my hand, reluctantly.

have a good day.

One thing that Does work,  Is if I apply this.   Ask God to help me unpack this Box,  it is the only way I can get it done,  His Force will be greater than my own Resistance.  Just have not done that yet.  Maybe today would be a good day, since the topic is Front and Center.

Have a good day, and I have the same Sissor Problem, have had that all my life, under what?

Toni

Maybe I shouldnt be Posting this, but it is the TRUTH

Hey Robert,

I found, that when I compulsively tidy up (not the normal housework thingee), it's because I'm feeling control issues---I don't feel like I have control, or I feel like there are some things out of control in my life, and the house? I have control over. It's like "making manifest what I need psychologically". My now adult kids laugh, because they can tell when I've got something going on inside by watching how I clean house. The external tidiness compensates for the internal chaos. Make sense? It's like, when my house is tidy, that means my thinking will be tidy. I am a reflexion of my surroundings type of thinking. Yeah, it's sick, but when it happens it's a red flag that I've got something to sit down and deal with. I have stacks and stacks of books, notebooks, writings, next to my chair. I allow myself that certain amount of chaos. Actually, it is much better than it was. I remember the days(nights) when I'd be up at 3 a.m. quietly cleaning house while the rest of the family slept. I sure don't do that anymore.

Rob, I have to ask. What in the name of the gods is in that bowl picture by your name? I can't decide whether to gag at it or not.....love Wren

Under Rob's name, where the logo is? There is what looks like a bowl with black eggs swimming in it, sort of a smiley face. I've looked at it a dozen times, and cannot for the life of me figure out what it is, LOL. Only that it doesn't look very good........Wren

HAHAHAHAHAA..

Well let me tell  you.. and i found this amazing.. Do you guys get Marmite over there?  Well..lol its not a jar its a lid.. no real guide to size in pic. .. lol

I unscrewed the lid (u can just about see a ridge, part of the thread) of a brand new jar of Marmite and the marmite (black stuff) had stuck in the shape of a smiley face on the lid.. a total million.. well id say billion or more to one chance of that happening..  So i took a pic of it, on my old phone.. I really should have contacted Marmite about it.. but i didnt..

Hmm go here http://www.marmite.com/ and click on either love or hate.. lol..

Lol no eggs in ingredients.. lmao..

ps.. the nicest way to eat marmite is in sandwhich with cheese.. i think cheese n marmite is the usual choice.. though marmite on toast is quite nice and i quite like cheese n marmite on crackers too.. with plenty of margerine of course..

pps.. its yellow not green.. lol

ppps.. wtf does ps stand for anyway.. lol

LOL, ps is Post Script.

Okay, I just read up on Marmite, and see that it is a yeast extract. Somehow, my stomach isn't any more comfy with the thought of gooey yeast than it was with black eggs. Is it sweet, or tangy, or what? With cheese? argh, I am totally off any breakfast now. Think i"ll have a nice safe glass of orange juice. No surprises there. Marmite. I"m sorry, but it sounds like some kind of techno-made synthetic marble for showers or something. Or sealent for around tubs. brrrrrrrrr. Wren

Too funny!! Well, I was wondering what was in the jar too,,, but didn't want to ask,,,  now I got really very curious and looked it up.  Here's a link for us Americans on what Marmite is:

http://www.accomodata.co.uk/marmite.htm

actually I do think we use yeast extract too,,, but it is usually an ingredient in other things, and not plain.  I have some food restrictions and have to read ingredients, and I know I've seen it:

http://www.abfingredients.com/?page=page&view=15

Yeast extracts are used as natural flavour enhancers in many foods; they offer a very natural way of intensifying and rounding the natural flavour.

"Yeast products can be used for a wide range of applications:

Flavouring Yeast extracts can be used across the entire flavouring area. Products are equally suitable for premixing in the condiment and snack area and for the traditional application areas in soups, sauces and the ready-cooked meals. "

HP is a real thing, too?  I thought that was an A-1 Steak Sauce bottle with HP on it for a joke. Well,,  we'll have to find some American things to get you guys with, too.
gee, now I'm getting hungry

love in recovery,

amanda

Wow didnt know it had been around that long!..

I cant bleve i completely forgot about this.. iv had the newspaper clip pinned up on my wall for a year or two..  Its from the Daily Mail  .. cant find article on the net so im gona have to type it... here goes.

Marmite, mosquito-beater

Holiday makers who are plagued by mosquito bites have a simple way to hand of preventing the irritating insects from attacking, according to a health expert.

Forget expensive bottles of repellant, all they need to do is eat plenty of Marmite sandwhiches on their vacation in the sun.  It seems that when the spread i eaten the skin emits an odour that humans cannot smell but which repels the marauding insects.

Public health cosultant Dr Martin Schweiger revealed the Marmite effect at a meeting of Co-op members in Leeds, ahead of the launch of a new advice leaflet for travellers.  Mr Schweiger said: "The effect of eatin it could be linked to the Vitamin B1 Thiamin that it contains.

This theory is supported by the rise of malaria in countries where staple rice has been dehusked and the thiamine-rich outer coatin disgarded.

Its a simple trick that everyone can try"

Well........I think I'll go with the thiamine. The more I look at that "interesting" concoction, the more I feel like I'd rather get eaten by mosquitos. I really should try to find some over here, look on a search engine and see if it's available in the states. I just don't know what to tell myself it is to get myself to eat it. I could fake out my kids, but can't fake myself out anymore. I remember in junior high, a guy I knew took a tbs. of yeast a day to clear up his acne......

Glad I did the shopping today, now I have to go get some ho hos or something. I don't have to pretend to like them...........................wren

I just found a place in new york that sells it and got the #. I mean, after reading the web site (thanks Amanda!) and it oh-so-cool 50's advertising and everything, I decided, I must give this a try. And then I won't have to worry so much about malaria.....nighty night, Wren

lol

Try it with cheese.. its bit much on its own..but not bad on toast.. but dont lay it too thick on toast.. lol with the cheese n marmite sandwhich i just basicaly match the amount of marmite with the amount of cheese.. i also find that making sure there is plenty of margerine is nice.. but each to their own preference..  cheese n marmite..lovely.. get some cheese n onion potato chips too.. lol..

maybe this needs to be in the cookbook thread..

Lol didnt know id start so much by finaly getin an avatar!.. lol.. and i almost went with the tomato face.. lol...
