My big brother's funeral

It was yesterday. A grim, wet and miserable day, there was sadness, reflection, tears and a lot of laughs. Over 300 people attended. Mostly his friends. Every one of those I spoke to said basically the same thing. He was a grumpy, growly owd bugger on the outside, but get past that and he was a gentleman underneath. 26 years in the raf. Time served cabinet maker before that. Truck driver and chaffeur on the proffesional golf circuit afterwards. Dad, grandad, brother and uncle ( often known as uncle ron at work). I have heard it said and believe it to be true that whileever a man is remebered with love, he never reallly dies. Our Ron must be just about immortal. I remember the arguments we had. I remember we were at opposite ends of the political spectrum. I remember crying on his shoulder at times. I remember getting my first ride on the back of a motorbike with him. I remember he welcomed my step daughters and wife without reservation. I remember him telling me about his wife's son who was adopted out before they met and when he found his mum,all ronnie said was I got an extra son. I'll thank my missus for helping me through the day, as i thank our girls Amy and Zoe for being there for their uncle ron. And i thank you lot and my lovely friends in AA for helping me do what I couldn't do alone. Lots of love from the grumpy ol bstrd in scotland.

Hey BB, ...

Thank you for sharing your life here with us ... the good and the not so good ... especially the highs and lows ... you have proved to me that Bill W. was correct when he wrote that 'We'll intuitively know how to handle situations that used to baffle us' ... ... ... Stay strong Brother ... Like your brother, your spirit will be here with us for a long, long time ... now and forever ...

Love ya man and God Bless,
Pappy

You are a very proud brother, BB. With every right to be.

May you and family get through this difficult time with acceptance and serenity.
