Kudos To PythonPappy For Service Here
Permalink

I noticed that Pappy recently hit another milestone on this forum: 11,000 posts.

Wow. More posts than any other member...ever.

Whenever some new person comes around...whenever somebody posts about some troubles...whenever somebody asks for some help...whenever the time is right for a joke or funny picture post.....Pappy has always been there--to offer his advice, encouragement, experience, strength and hope. He has helped countless members of this forum with his serenity, wisdom and courage in the last six years.

Congrats and thanks go out to Roger for all his service here. He always extends the hand of AA unselfishly and with uncommonly good cheer.

He has been feeling under the weather recently due to some significant health challenges. Here's to a rapid and complete return to excellent health for Pappy...

 Great job, brother.

 *** Begin Let's Toast Pappy  ***

Hmmm... 11,000 Posts ... That's quite a number and
with many of them being in those Plagiarized Hazelden Spam Threads(NA Rhetoric)
where Pappy talks to him/her self have created TheBloatedBri which was sorta'
funny except that the Flatulence stinks to HighHeaven and it just
ain't AA Conference Approved Reading Material.
Yep, Oh what a service the Pappy has rendered.

*** End Let's Toast Pappy ***

OK...

I am kind of worried about Pappy, though. His absence lately is notable. I haven't PM'd with him in a couple weeks...and he hasn't replied yet to one I sent 3 days ago.

It's the DeadDog on the sidewalk trick to find out if anyone cares. Try email if PM doesn't work.

Thanks for everyone's concern and love ...

I'm in my fourth month of Chemo ... 5th coming this Fri ... have had some serious complications ... Final treatment to be in 3 1/2 weeks, Lord willing ...

This has been no 'picnic' ... I've never experienced this kind of 'be'n sick' ... and I pray no one else ever has to go through this ...

Take Care and God Bless,

Pappy

Glad to hear your still in the game and God willing you will be for a long time.

For the newcomer, we alcoholics don't get any special dispensation for putting ourselves through our own Hell.  The best we can expect is life on life's terms.

^ what a jitbag.

For the newcomer, just as in any walk of life, we have frauds amongst us in the program as well. If they seem sick, they probably are.

You've had a rough road to travel lately, Pappy. Here's hoping today went OK and that the last one will too.
You're on my daily prayer list.

We need you back in the mix whenever you can possibly make it. Somebody's got to keep an eye on Marc...

You bring to mind an important point.  I can't recall anyone ever saying that they are anything but a "recovering" alcoholic, and yet the forward to the first edition of the Big Book says:  "We, OF [sic] Alcoholics Anonymous, are more than one hundred men and women who have recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body."  Were the founders lying?

I only have 10 months of sobriety, but I consider myself a recovered alcoholic. Doesn't mean I won't relapse. but as for now I have recovered.

My offer still stands...
The 12stepforums.net domain isn't doing shit these days so how about I park
a brand spanking new PHPBB forum on it and you can do your NA stuff there.

Maybe you could hook up with MicroMacro(Jennifer Place) and go into the recovery coaching business.  Do you think 10 months is enough?

The forward to the 1st edition of the Big Book contradicts the current conventional wisdom that alcoholics are in "recovery" for the rest of their lives as you seem to agree to:  "We, OF [sic] Alcoholics Anonymous, are more than one hundred men and women who have recovered from a seemingly hopeless state of mind and body.  This suggests that full recovery comes after the 12th step, but I hold personally it takes about 1 year to do a "meaningful" 4th step though there is no guidance in the literature.  I don't personally believe that a rehab 4h step is intended to be meaningful, only instructive and may help remove some of the baggage we carry from active drinking.

Not long ago I found some Joe and Charlie Workshop pages on the net. They have decided to give it away and make them Public Domain. I have copies and am currently working on a way to integrate them into my forums. F(n)HighLevelMath, Don't'cha' just love it. :)
I'm trying to build something useful. I could use some help but can't find anyone with Admin skills and Written StepWork.
