Welcome to this forum, jg. Seems like your drinking has become a problem in your life.

I was a binge drinker. I did not drink every day. But when I drank, the result was unpredictable. Bad things happened to me.

I finally had enough and decided to seek help. I got help at AA meetings. There were people there who were just like me and they were staying sober.
There are many people here who are sober. Some more will come along and greet you. We all know what you've been through.

Meetings vary, so you might try a different one. Or you can hang out here and we can talk. Before you take a drink today, maybe post again, telling us how you're feeling...and what you are thinking. Share with us a little bit. We can probably help.

Welcome to MIP!

Good you made an effort to reach out,,when we come to realize we have a problem and  we are not stuck in denial,we can begin our journey toward daily recovery.Stick around ,let us know how you are doing and listen to the many suggestions from folks who have walked your walk and made a decision to do whatever it took to remain free of active addiction(alcoholism)its not how much or what we use that makes the difference for us ,its how it affects us and devastates our lives.Hope to hear more from you.. :)

At my first meeting, you could of held a megaphone to my ear and I would not of heard or remember anything that was talked about. Want to know why? Because I had so much of me stuck on me that I could not see a foot in front of my face. The world was on mute; just as this response might be to some who read it.

What worked to get me off of me was to focus in and really hear the struggles and similarities that we all share. Lower the bar of expectations and be an average sally or sam for a night.

Meetings are unatural to us as is everything about the program. The uncomfortableness will pass. Continuing on the alcoholic path through the gates of hell, through the insanity, and to a slow tortuous death is the harder path. Your choice, but I chose sobriety and life on life's terms.
