dealing with a relationship breakup
Permalink

My sister who is a lesbian was in a relationship which broke up recently. I have been her only support during trying times. I have been beside her encouraging her to enjoy life , do things which she likes and not to exert herself too much. I am scared, in spite of all my efforts, if she is falling into depression. I referred almost all articles available online on dealing with breakup like

http://thoughtcatalog.com/zoe-griggs/2014/09/how-to-handle-a-breakup-10-dos-and-5-donts/

http://www.bespokematchmaking.com/how-to-cope-with-a-breakup/

http://www.askmen.com/dating/heidi/how-to-handle-a-breakup.html

Need valuable suggestions from those who have recovered successfully from breakups. Any tips for my loving sis. I am worried for her. It is affecting her career too. Need urgent help.

Hi Eddie,

The end of a relationship can be compared to a death for many people. Your sister - if she's going into a depression - may need clinical help. If that's the case - all the articles on the planet aren't going to help her.

Getting over a relationship takes time and using the words "Getting over" really minimizes the process. It's painful as hell. She might not be in a space to "enjoy life , do things which she likes" right now because she's in mourning.

The heart - just like every other body part - requires time to heal.

How long were they together and how long ago did they break up?

Good point. Alcoholism we have a solution for, but we would be about the worst people in the world to ask about relationships.
