My 43rd AA ANNIVERSARY
Permalink

I was found half frozen late at night in a snow bank in a town north of Boston...I had so much alcohol in me that it probably kept me from being completely frozen over and dead. I went to an AA meeting the next morning...and never looked back.. I found a new life...I've remained sober from that day forward.

There is no elation bring sober that long...but a deep sense of gratitude that my life has been" lived not in vain"...There is a quiet inner realization that from the many thousands of meetings attended that directly or indirectly from sharing my strength hope and experience, more than a few lives have been saved. What better service is that?. There is also the realization that in doing" just that"...was the road to my new journey...Along with this 43 year journey...I have been blessed...I know that I am on the road to the Holy Grail. One day at a time.

Alcohol actually reduces core body temperature. Alcohol inhibits the body's defenses against the cold. You were in danger of losing your life.

But you were spared. And you have survived to live a sober life. Yours is an educational story. Congrats on 43 years.

Some people put AntiFreeze in their Radiator fluid while Others put Alcohol in their BloodStream.
To each his/her own I guess. :)

It has been an incredible journey.
