Totally disagree with you all, we need new direction and "CHANGE" ( obamas favorite word which ALOT of people sure got) lol
I like to Look at the positive side of things. I did not vote either time for Obama and I am what I call a constitutional conservative Republican.
BUT on the bright side of the dark cloud I was able to buy a home, my first home at 48 years old because Obama started a first time buyer program.
I have health insurance now because of " Obama care", you know us alchys usually have pre-existing disorders, well I had a few which made me getting health insurance impossible.
SO the way I look at it there's going to be something for you all who dislike Trump are going to receive from him in one way or another that benefits your life .
SO BE HAPPY or don't, it's entirley Up to You...I happen to LOVE what he's promising to bring to this Country, less illegal aliens, bring jobs( manufacturing), less government control through government agency's like the EPA BTW there are 93 MILLION more government jobs then manufactring, better relations with other country's ( except mexico j/k ) , let'ssee what else ooooh everyones gonna say Merry Christmas again LOL
Have a nice day
Trump dance**^%&E^*$^

You know I had to pay a freakin penalty fee the last few years because I did not have insurance? And I have a legit reason why.
I have been swindled out of my hard earned money so forgive me if I don't give a flying crap about anyone losing insurance. Bye bye obamacare what a disaster.
See why we have no opinion on outside issues?
Never even thought of drinking because of the election. We are fortunate to live in a country where we can vote and thank goodness for gridlock keeping us safe from whoever is in power at the moment.
When a commenter deletes a comment in order to help avoid 'outside issue' controversy, and you quote from that comment, putting some of the contents back on the page again, it kinda defeats the purpose....
When a person, after much consideration and analysis, voluntarily posts his detailed views:
the next four years, the rest of us American citizens can look forward to legislation that will erode our voting rights, our right to make our own health care choices, the right to equal pay for equal work, having someone else's religious views imposed on us through the government, and a barrage of new laws that serve no beneficial purpose and exist simply to disadvantage American families headed by same sex couples. Please remember to think about all of these other American citizens....
on a public discussion forum (not an AA meeting) for full rhetorical effect and argumentation of the issues then attempts to hide his well thought out views after his points have been distributed to the readers of the forum, it calls into question the ethics of that individual.
If you were ashamed of your views, perhaps it would have been better not to post them in the first place. Blaming SOMEONE ELSE for posting YOUR public comment(s) is the height of absurdity and irresponsibility.
Ironically, it is EXACTLY like what Donald Trump would do.
I'm not the slightest bit "ashamed" of my views, I deleted the comment to help avoid unnecessary 'outside interest' controversy. Just as I said.
YOUR choice to copy and re-post someone else's comment, after that post had been delted by the commenter, shows that you don't share the desire to avoid outside interest controversy, and prefer to 'stir the pot',
which is EXACTLY what an internet troll would do.
Suit yourself. My side of the street is clean.

So you posted the comment which causes 'outside interest' controversy...but then you deleted the comment to avoid unnecesary 'outside interest" controversy, eh?
Yes. After some consideration, I deleted the comment out of respect for this forum, and out of a desire to help keep this forum focused on AA's primary purpose.
Apparently, you don't share that respect or that desire, and prefer to 'stir the pot'.

This thread is a great example of why we should not discuss politics or religion within the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous. Nothing good comes from these types of discussions.
Yes. As a gay person...I was horrified and I am scared shitless. I didnt sleep for 2 days. It is disgusting and I want to vomit at what america has done. I did think of drinking but I didnt.
And I know this is not respecting traditions but being honest. I would not share it in a meeting but as long as someone was celebrating on here...whatever.

We all have to make sense of the real world and its effects upon us. Sometimes we share that sensemaking with others.
It most definitely is not violative of AA Traditions to state your personal views in an online discussion forum of an important event in the society in which we live. We are not an AA group. We are not an AA meeting.
A forum is a place for discussion. The only one who has the power and authority to restrict the discussion is the owner of the forum. In the case of aa.activeboard.com, John Freifeld is the sole legal owner. Only he can make the rules and he can make any rules he wishes. This is unlike AA where there is no ownership of a group or meeting.
I agree tanin...this is not formally AA and discussion boards are different than actual AA meetings. So not a violation of traditions when done here....It would be in a meeting though right?

You think you got problems! Try being run by an unelected prime minister, with a cabinet of 'yes men' who seem hell bent on driving the little man into the ground.
Would this trigger a drink? (I never stopped at one anyway). Hell no. I don't want to give any more of my hard earned to this bunch of shysters in taxation than I have to!
Seriously....are there triggers or are triggers excuses? This leopard has changed his spots because he had to and he wanted to. All the triggers, for me, were excuses to relapse. Once I understood that, there were no more triggers.
Ok, sometimes I fall back on my innate grumpiness to get through....I enjoy it....sometimes it '.....and yer 5 fathers.'...sometimes it's the realisation that there's some really sick people cross my path. I've hung on to some attributes....my arrogance, pride and self worth are all there but right sized now.
Strange thing to say? Well without the appropriate level of PAGGLES ....I'd not bother shaving, dressing well etc. It's when PAGGLES get out of control, take more importance than they should, become a consuming passion, that's when the problems start.
