Honesty to I have been sober a short time and recently went on a baseball trip with my son. The other parents, good people all drank in parking lot before game. When I was drinking I could never do that, I would of continued on and missed most of game if not all. The non alcoholic can have 2 drinks go to game and return to hotel , socialise and go to bed. Not me, one beer and it's off to the races, runaway train on a journey to nowhere, when I was younger and woke up in airports I laughed it off, I had no responsibility so I was only hurting myself, but I never considered it alcoholic, I lied to myself and attributed the behaviour to excitement and thrill, but waking up in New York city , not knowing how you landed( LaGuardia or Kennedy) and then continue on to Fort Lauderdale is alcoholic, and behaviour such as this was happenstance in my life and I shrugged it off , because the devil of denial allowed me to lie to myself. So if anyone out there is really questioning" Are they alcoholic" ask yourself can I have two drinks and stop; not just merely stop most of us could do that, stop with peace and no aggravation. Social drinkers are different from me, I love them to death they are always in control, whereas I was always under control of John Barleycorn.
Bunchie ( sober for awhile and then I fall prey to the thrill which no longer exists)

Bunchie, you wouldn't be an airline pilot by any chance....?
ooh, ooh, ... I personally know an airline pilot that was arrested in the cockpit and removed from the plane ... made the National headlines, years ago ... he and I were in the same 'Home Group' ...
He's actually back in the pilot's seat now, but it took a while and he's a great guy ... sober ... 'nough said else I give too much info ...
