What's going on with you, rdy4change? Tell us a bit more.
Whatever it is, some of us have been through it before. Whatever it is, there is no good reason to drink.
In order to change, you must 1st change the way you think ... my sponsor told me, when I said I was lost on this whole AA thingy, he said you must change the way you think ... he asked me where my best think'n got me??? ... I said right here with no clue ... he said 'there you go' ... you've come to the right place ... NOW, keep come'n to the meet'ns and you'll learn what all these other poor bastards did, and that's how to go one day without a drink ... ... ...He also told me, We will help you to think the right things in order to straighten your life out so you can start to enjoy it instead of dreading each new day ...
But 1st, you must have the desire, so much so, that you're will'n to go to any length to get and stay sober ...
Go to several meet'ns ... TODAY ... try to go sober ... it's a start, to leaving your past behind and building a new life ... it's really just a choice, you game??? ... ... ...

I like what you said about having the desire to stop. You really gotta be sick and tired of being sick and tired. That's why so many of us had to fall to the bottom, before we decided, finally, that we'd had enough.
If you get the desire to stop, eventually, you will lose the desire for drink.
Call the local AA Service Office in the town you are in and reach out. They have men on the ready to work with you.
Posting this kind of thing online is definitely better than sitting alone feeling lost, but little lasting relief will be had without face to face talk.

Most all of us here are pray'n you make the right choices to get your 'think'n' 'on track' ... life is so much better when we 'decide' to have a positive 'can do' attitude ... ... ... it's all in how we think ... about anything, everything ... ... ... think positive, get better ... think negative, and get worse ... drink'n only succeeds in make'n a bad situation a lot worse, always worse, never better ...
Love ya man and God Bless,
Pappy

I get that the program worked for you and not that you are drinking...just having some rough time. True? If you have been successful with the program for years I would encourage to duplicate what you have done before that worked and let it work continuously. Are you drinking still? Where is your nearest meeting? Can you still contact your sponsor? Do you have one? Will you participate here daily? What's your relationship with Higher Power? Are you walking with HP 24/7? Just some stuff I know and even when I'm not okay...I won't drink. Keep coming back.
I will keep you in my prayers. After almost a lifetime of feeling like I am "not okay" I realize, that really...I am more okay than I think I am. Anxiety attacks are a part of my life. When I am convinced I am "not okay" I am not. When I tell myself "everything will be okay", it usually will be. If I ride that rough tide long enough and hang in there a little longer than I think I can endure, I can and will survive. Change is not something I like. Moving to a new location is stressful. I hope that you give yourself enough time to see what this new opportunity has in store for you. Hugs and love to you.
