Thanks, Roman.

Welcome to this discussion forum, Roman. We're mostly alcoholics here. Mostly AA members? A few people are not.

Congrats on 23 days sober. That's a good start.

Are you trying out AA?

Welcome Roman,

My name is Pattie and I'm an Alcoholic,

It has been my experience that if you don't drink and interact with other alcoholics in the program that you have a chance at going to sleep tonight sober. Just hang onto your seat because it does get better ODAAT!!

Thank you for the warm welcome. I started attending AA meetings recently, after a DUI. I've been drinking for well over 35 years.
I realize now that I have to quit drinking for ever. Kinda scary and a little depressing, but that is what I need to do. I purchased the blue 'Alcoholics Anonymous' book and the '12 Steps And 12 Traditions' book.

The meeting I attend, have on average, about 10 members. It's structured where a topic is chosen, and people share with others, based on that particular topic. I enjoy the meeting and the people, and will continue to attend this meeting, but I would also like to branch out and see what is out there. I'd like to find a meeting where I can learn as much as possible about the program. My current meeting isn't really structured for questions and answers, and free flowing discussions about working the steps, and the program in general. Maybe it all comes together in time.

Again, Thanks for the welcome.

You can always ask questions here, Roman. And you can find a sponsor to help with questions, too.

The main thing is to give recovery a fair chance.  A lot of people start off in recovery all motivated but then the motivation wanes and they drift away...before giving recovery enough time to get established.

I suggest that for 3 months you could decide to stay away from a drink, one day at a time. You can decide to attend as many AA meetings as you can (don't sorry about doing "90 in 90," necessarily). Go every day if possible.

Go to the meetings you need. Read the literature that informs you. Listen to the people who share their ESH.

Work your program for 3 months, giving it a fair shot. It may save your life.

Hey Roman, ... Pickle shared some good wisdom with you above, and I might add, ... you can look up your area AA meet'ns on the internet and see if there are some 'Beginners' meet'ns and or some 'Big Book Study' meet'ns close by ... ... ... those helped me through the beginning phase of my recovery ... especially through the latter part of my 'detox' period, which you are on the tail end of right now ... (be sure to see a doctor if your blood pressure is still high ...) this is a dangerous time for us physically ... take plenty of vitamin B12 and natural juice to help speed up your recovery ... ... ... oh, and you might want to carry some hard candy with you if you still get the urge to drink ... it helps put sugar in your system to replace the sugar you're not getting from the alcohol ... ... ...

Hang in there,

Love ya man and God Bless,
Pappy

Hi Cherish, ... I just want to point out that this is not the appropriate web site for the message you're wanting to convey ...

I will leave your post up for now, but in the future, if you wish to participate here, please keep your message centered on 'RECOVERY FROM ALCOHOLISM ...

Thank you so much,
Pappy

 Hi Pappy,

There has been an increase in this type of 'spam' here and in other discussions forums lately. often trying to sell some kind of health quackery, services for helping people write a term paper, etc. When it's from some new account with one post and obviously unrelated to the discussion at hand, it's just plain spam and both the post and the account should be deleted.
