The joys of recovery

About 2 months ago a newcomer walked into our group. He was on the verge of divorce. The group was on the 3rd step. After the meeting he came to me and shared, how ugly this divorce had become. Legal eagles got involved, 5 of them, 2 advocates and 3 lawyers. I did not give any advice. I just shared with him that, "the grouch and brainstorm were not for us" and left it at that. At our meeting on Monday night this week, he told me how the AA's 12 steps had brought sanity into his life.

He learned to pray to be free of resentment and anger. The personality change brought about a change of heart in that family. They are now considering cancelling divorce proceedings and trying for reconciliation.

It never fails to amaze me, every single time, that when a man sincerely tries to work the AA's 12 steps, the peace and harmony that comes about in that family. AA was always applauded for it's ability to reconcile families, and here we see how the hand of God works.

This is my joy of living, to see my brothers live in harmony.smile
