Hi, I am a graduate psychology student at the Wright Institute and a supporter of AA. I am collecting data for my dissertation that explores the effects of personal qualities on ones motivation for substance abuse treatment. I hope that my research can help providers that offer services to people struggling with substance use issues by helping them resolve obstacles that may be preventing them from getting help or seeking treatment. If you answered yes to the above questions, you might be eligible to participate in a survey looking at personal qualities that help motivate people for treatment and recovery. Your participation would be doing a service in improving clinical knowledge and understanding of the issue. When you complete the survey, you will be entered into a raffle for a $50 Amazon.com gift card!
The survey will take you approximately 20 minutes. All responses will be anonymous.
I would think that with the enormous amount of information on the internet, you can find the information you need without doing a survey. I have been burned more than once by clicking on a link so I am extremely cautious about it. Also, I wouldn't be interested in being in any raffle. Not that I couldn't use a nice gift card --just don't want to get one this way.

J Selene, ... it's good you're a graduate psychology student ... but you must understand we in AA do not help others with any 'expectations' of getting anything in return ...we help others suffering from alcoholism because no one charged us for the help we, ourselves, received ... plus, we don't know the extent you will go to use this info ... whether it will be used to promote a 'for profit' rehab center or some other profit motivated thing ...
